Yes but if you watch something like "Nightcrawler" you can see how a big city network will selectively target black/hispanic on white crimes in order to perpetuate the racial war myth. I know it's a movie, but it's so obvious. There's millions of stories every day and what gets covered is as revealing as the motives behind the actual crime

There aren't very many stories like this. Don't complain to me about allegedly undue focus on black/hispanic on white crime. The nature of crimes such as this one demand coverage.

in chicago there's over 2 murders a day and countless assaults, so yeah it's common enough. It's just newsworthy because it's racial and far less significantly, they broadcast it

From a european point of view like the poster who pointed this out, it makes no sense

Our society decided many years ago that crimes motivated by the race of the victim are especially heinous; a point of view that Europeans especially should have an appreciation for. That is one reason why it is newsworthy - the other being that the perpetrators claimed to be afflilated with a nationally recognized and controversial racial movement in the course of the torture of their victim.

No, that's a reason it should be dealt with more harshly in the courts. Being targeted due to identity compounds the victim's suffering. Newsworthy has nothing to do with justice, and my concern is that making 'celebrities' of them is exactly what they wanted

Please, as my graph demonstrates, it would've made the news and the average joe would've interpreted it as racial no matter what was said, and you'd have sean hannity and all the other media fiends capitalizing on this obsession

I can see Sneaking out of the house after curfew or smoking a joint might be something stupid kids might do but kidnapping and torturing a person goes a weee bit beyond "stupid things a kid might do'.

No, have you ever seen a chicago high school? It's common enough, and few of those will make the news. Of course, those are almost always black on black, so i figure that explains the lack of interest in those cases
