Have you ever lied at work. No innuendo no deflection nothing like that. It is a yes or no question with no caveat.

Context, context, CONTEXT!

In my work a lie might be, "No, I didn't leave that cup of coffee there that got spilled.", but since I document things that are used in court to make legal determinations that frequently are corroborated later under oath, that would be a lie of a much different color [literally, the color of my office].

Are you remotely suggesting the two are equivalent?

This isn't a valid question given where you plan on taking it as suggested by your other threads.

So what do you think? No innuendo no deflection nothing like that. It is a yes or no question with no caveat.

Did you ever cheat on your wife?

Did you ever fantasize about hurting cats?

Did you ever fantasize about having sex with L. Ron Hubbard?

What is your point?

Lying about material matters at any real job I've had, or created, is grounds for immediate termination.
With regards to material work matters, never.

An occasional white lie about looks or who annoys you...not so much. Lying about eating someone's food in the fridge...that's deplorable, maybe a warning on that behavior..not so much the lying. But lying about an error or goofing off then lying about it, or lying about a resume, etc...I've seen people terminated same day on things like that. A president doing that 20 times on serious matters, for example, should have been escorted out by his own party. Alas.

How many false equivalency threads on lying will save king dingaling? None.

It isn't a caveat. it is an acknowledgement that you're attempting to relegate to a yes or no that which has a multitude of shades of grey. As does any multitude of things within any society. In ours that is why we have courts. Because we acknowledge the existence of context, and that it matters.

So until you realize that there is no answer other that yes or no you are going to except. Since I am putting forth that there is no absolute yes and no absolute no you are simply going to respond, but tell me what you really think... which I already have, and round and round we go.

I just put an end to a long thread of precisely that. It devolved and ceased to have merit, bored myself and likely everyone else reading along to tears. Literally killed the thread.

I have presented my notion on the matter. Those reading along will decide its merit, and it might mean something for the briefest of moments. It will then pass into oblivion as the vast majority of opinion given on the internet deserves.

Yes, but why would you accept an answer from a self-confessed liar? ;)

The premise of the thread, based on the last few threads by the OP, is that if I lied at work then I'm in no position to be judging candidates based on their truthfulness.

But if I were, say, an inveterate liar, then all that would mean is that I'm no more suited to be President than the current one.

Thank you.

I am going somewhere, but not there.
