37 Years of Mass Shootings in the U.S. in One Chart

I have been dealing with the anti rights movement for more than 40 years. I know what motivates its leaders. Its not public safety

I have been observing the anti-gun safety movement for more than 50 years. I know what motivates its leaders. It’s not self-protection.

Attempts to keep thugs from obtaining guns has not worked in big cities with strict gun laws, but leftists keep saying stricter gun laws will work. They will not work. Leftists need to come to their senses.

And, of course, you can show what gun laws have been enacted where and that since an appreciable period of time has gone by gun deaths have not been curtailed. You have the evidence to support your claim, right? The burden of proof is on you to have the evidence of fact to back up what you say. Otherwise, your claim is unfounded and dismissed.

I think you hear things differently from him than others do

I read the words. Videos have transcripts. The words are clear.

It's why critics point out the dangers of commentators and politicians referring to an "invasion" by Central American immigrants. It's why people criticized President Trump for calling some Mexican immigrants "rapists."*USA Today recently published a story*examining the language Trump uses to describe immigrants -- terms like "predator," "killer," and "animal" -- at his rallies.

Why recent deadly attacks in the US are modern-day lynchings - CNN

that is because there is no evidence that more gun controls in the USA will do anything positive (unless you think harassing honest gun owners is a positive)

The evidence that it works can be seen the countries previously cited all of which have stricter gun laws all of which see well fewer mass shootings. It's sticking out like white balls on a black dog but because you have a gun fetish you refuse to acknowledge it

Why do people need to own an assault rifle for recreational purposes ? And , if you think that the chance of stopping the likelihood of mass shootings doesn't trump your own need to own an assault rifle it shows a very very selfish streak imho

You're lying, of course. But I need a good laugh, what motivates us?

WHY DO people who don't like guns ask why others do? SELFISH_telling me I shouldn't be allowed to own something so you can pretend you did something useful

There has never ever been a mass shooting with a legally owned assault rifle in US history so stop your silly lies

The reality is that every society has a right to create a social and political environment of its own choosing that its people want to live in providing no right are violated. And since no American has any right to these assault or military weapons, we can ban them if such large numbers of citizens want to as the latest polls say they do. .

Strawman one..........I never asked you whether you liked assault rifles , I asked you why you needed one. I mean are you that bad a shot that you need one to be confident of hitting the target ? So let's try again. Why do you NEED an assault rifle ?

Strawman two........ I never commented on whether the rifles used in these mass shootings were legally owned so I never " lied " and my thoughts are to take them out of circulation thus reducing their numbers with the view to reduce the liklihood of anybody using them

I would say the rights of those being gunned down by people with assault rifles would qualify as a violation of their rights

BTW I agree that every country/people have the right to create their own environment , no probs, my contention is the bemoaning of the mass shootings and the crying for the victims of them accompanied by the lack of an actual will to try to stop the likelihood of them happening time and again.

Need has zero relevance in this discussion-absolutely none.

but people who think like you are why WE need them

In thirty years, California averages about 5 deaths a year to "mass shootings". Its really sad, but there are so many other things that kill so many more people, that do not get the huge coverage

And how many of those other things have to do with a Constitutionally protected right over an item and where its singular and original and current purpose is to kill and maim? Hence the coverage.

Right then we have established that you don't actually have an argument as to why you need them or if you have you are unwilling to lay it out

except your post demonstrates massive ignorance or dishonesty. Those firearms are not what you claim. So stop the nonsense.

why do you need to post on a message board concerning a country you aren't even a registered voter in? why do you need a computer? a car? a TV?

We don't need it. We just want it.

Well, some people want it.

Now that I've answered your question, answer mine...you would ban the AR15, yes? Why? And just that make/model, or anything similar? How similar?

None of which are responsible for the murder of hundreds of people a year.

Would you support ordinary citizens with a pilots licence having a fully loaded/armed Apache helicopter or a F16 ? To me there are certain things that are not good to be rolled out to Joe Public because of the danger they pose to the other people in that society. You appear to believe that people should be allowed to own/ have whatever they crave just because they crave it and so what to the dangers it might pose to others

my guns have never murdered anyone either. and there is absolutely no evidence that telling millions of Americans that they cannot own stuff that they have never misused, will decrease crime in the least. So you are lying when you make your claim.

Lets punish those who harm others rather than pretending we are doing something useful by punishing those who do not cause any problems.

And I might say I want a barrel of Sarin. If you are consistent you will allow me to have it , right ?

Yep I would ban all semi automatic/automatic rifles because I think they are just too dangerous to have in society and don't buy into that " I want it " and to hell with the consequences

You dodged the question.........should people with a civilian pilot licence be allowed to own and fly fully loaded Apaches or F16's ?

Strawman 3................. you have switched from the subject of mass shootings to " crime ". Where countries have introduced tighter gun laws in the wake of mass shootings the instances of mass shootings has declined or that society isn't plagued by such crimes , so the claim I made ( about mass shootings and not " crime " * sleight of hand acknowlegded *) stands up.

I can remember two mass shootings in the UK in my entire life and believe me if we ever allowed people to have assualt rifles here that would change dramatically

that's really stupid. are civilian police issued fighter planes with armaments?

Answering a question with a question  Just answer it , yes or no ?

So what are you saying here really ? That peoples wants should only be allowed if the police/state forces have the same items ? lol

We have already established that you don't actually NEED an assault rifle , you just want to own one/two whatever. I might want a tank. You just don't get this danger factor do you ?

Comment how in the UK we have seen two mass shootings and during the same period of time the US has witnessed hundreds , then tell me how the restrictions/bans don't impact

I commented earlier that I am tired of US citizens crying over the latest mass shooting but at the same time supporting the private ownership of the weapons with which they are carried out. It's like the drunk crying to you over the latest thumping headache. You like to drink , don't cry over the hangovers that follow

Good overview of mass shootings in the United States, showing deaths and injuries.

Mass Shootings in the US: See 37 Years in One Chart | Time

I'm as disgusted as anyone at the terrible mass shootings. I am also tired of making it a political issue and I'm sure most of America is as well. Problem is the left wants to pick and choose the numbers in the issue. Why 3 victims? What about the shootings in Philadelphia, Chicago, Baltimore and many many more democrat run cities in America, where one or two are shot every day over and over in these cities but the media and the politicians want to ignore the violence, claiming it is gang violence. Well the effects are the same, these large cities have tremendous death and injured numbers but we are not allowed to talk about it because if you do you are somehow racist.
You can't lay the blame on all white men for instance and then expect cooperation in changing the laws. I think the left knows this and they don't really want to change things too much because then they lose one of their main talking points. Democrats only have hate and anger to deal with anything.
