The firearms industry had its best year ever as concerns over safety due to the coronavirus crisis, and political battles drove a 60% spike, according to the leading gun trade group.

The firearms industry had its best year ever as concerns over safety due to the coronavirus crisis, and political battles drove a 60% spike, according to the leading gun trade group.

In its final analysis of FBI background checks, the National Shooting Sports Foundation estimated gun sales at about 21 million, a huge 34% jump over the previous record set in 2016, another year where politics helped to drive sales.

Unique to last year was the surge in sales to first-time gun buyers, women, and blacks.

The group’s analysis said, “8.4 million people bought a firearm for the first time in 2020. That’s 40% of all purchases. This year’s buyer is increasingly diverse too. Forty percent of 2020’s buyers were women and the biggest increase of any demographic category was among African Americans, who bought guns at a rate of 58% greater than in 2019.”

Because I believe there's been too much stereo-typing of gun-crime and gun-fear in relation to the black community. Consequently, and also for other reasons, black communities have traditionally been under-armed.

It's good to see them having the same ability to protect themselves as other demographics.

But the stats on mass shootings perpetrators would seem to deny that black communities lack guns.

If by community you mean the law abiding Black Community they are under armed... Then again they are clustered in Democrat controlled bastions that have strict gun control..... See also CHICAGO.

I'm not speaking of criminal shoots, but of general armament of the citizenry, for instance through concealed carry permits, or in Chicago through FOID holders.

another blatant lie. There are less than 2000 murders each year with firearms that involve people who are NOT felons during the shooting.

what he means is that the more people who have a vested interest in supporting the second amendment, the less likely it is that scummy gun banners-such as Senile Joe and Kamala Ho-can get gun bans enacted.

You have an amazing way of downplaying women being slaughtered by their husbands, boyfriends and exes when it happens 2-3 times per day. And those numbers don't even count the ones that are shot and survive.

It's almost like you don't care.
