Tick, tock, Mr. Reid, tick, tock.

In a hypothetical head-to-head match-up, Reid trails declared Republican challenger Danny Tarkanian 40 percent to 45 percent, just clearing the 4 percent margin of error, with 15 percent undecided. Tarkanian, a Las Vegas real estate developer and son of famed college basketball coach Jerry Tarkanian, lost his two previous attempts at elected office — in 2006 in the race for Nevada secretary of State and in 2004 for state Senate. Forty-seven percent of respondents, however, hold a favorable opinion of Tarkanian; 25 percent have no opinion.

Okay, now I'm going to read the actual article. Reid's re-election isn't guaranteed tho, is it?

Whoa, interesting article ! I knew he wasn't a shoe-in, but I didn't realize the numbers were that poor for him.

Hey, I *really* liked the last paragraph:

"The one bright spot for Reid in this poll: a majority of likely Nevada voters favor the reaction of a government-administered health insurance option, something he has championed in the Senate. Should the so-called public option pass as part of the Democrat-backed health care overhaul, that could be a positive selling point in next year’s campaign."

I hope that means the public option will be STRONGLY championed in the Senate!

My hopes are on the conference committee report. Enough with the Senate Finance committee, just report a damn bill out and pass the thing on the floor. The Conference Committee is where we'll get the public option !

I saw a blurb about this race on PoliticalWire. Reid is definitely not looking at a cakewalk:

Reid's Seat Now Rated a Toss Up

The Cook Political Report just changed rating on the Nevada U.S. Senate race from Likely Democrat to Toss Up.

Polls have consistently shown Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) behind potential GOP challengers.

I actually hope Reid goes down. He's horrible as majority leader and he sucks at doing his job of wrangling his party in line. I have to say Republicans are really good at keeping everyone in step and in line.

I'd like to see him step down, but him losing would be a nightmare, like when Daschale lost. Can we stop picking people for Majority Leader from Red states?

Well there's a misconception that somehow picking a leader from a red state will somehow swing the state over

Yeah, we'll see how well that works. Anyone know who is up in the bull pen should Reid step down or lose?
