Brodeur is 15-2-1 with 1.70 GAA, .930 save pct since Jan. 1. Remember those folks who were saying he was washed up and over the hill?

6 points out now.... We believe

Bias is in managment i.e. bettman and co, not the officiating, at least not anymmore. :ssst:

btw, it was a clear high stick.

Two points:

1) at least for me, I said he was noticeably slower, not that he was washed up. He is noticeably slower. He commits earlier and makes fewer of the flashy style saves. This does not make him washed up.

2) with the style of play NJ has, it's not like he does not have a lot of support. NJ, more than any other team in the league, plays defense first and almost exclusively. Where almost any other team would continue to try and press for the puck, NJ is already falling back defensively.

And the beat goes on...

the Brodeur is great because of the defense in front of him argument is nonsense. note he put up his best numbers a couple years ago when we had a weak defense. Our defense is not an all star or even an elite defense right now, so I'm not sure how that argument flies....

The Devils do not play defense the most, nor exclusivley, please consult someone other than barry melrose. :ssst:

The Devils play a very tight checking game, yes, however, they are no more "Defensive minded" than Montreal, Nashville, Florida, minnesota, Boston, phoenix.

Detroit was a defensive team the during the same years the devils were "ruining hockey with the trap".

Heck 2007-2008 SCF detroit did not play an offensive game.... (nor did the pens) after Game 2, both teams relied on defensive hockey and turnovers IIRC....

Fact is, the close to the cup you get, (with the exception of tampa bay that year), the more "Defensive" style of hockey is played, or as you claimed earlier "not playing to lose"

You are putting words in my mouth Rev. I think Brodeur is, at the very least, the best goalie I have ever seen play, possibly(probably) the best ever. I have more respect and admiration for his ability than I can even begin to say.

Your defensive players are not all star or elite, but your team plays a defensive system that falls back in a defensive posture quicker than any other team. They actually contrast in styles with the Red Wings nicely. When the Wings look like they are giving up on plays to fall back on pucks, the Wings lose. You can usually see it happening within 5 minutes of the start of the game. Instead of pressing for turnovers and intercepting pucks in the offensive/neutral zone, which is a Wings style of play, when Detroit starts falling back they are clearly off their game. For NJ it is the opposite. No high risk, it's all about getting back into the neutral zone and defensive zone, forcing the attacking players to the outside and getting into the lanes defensively. You rarely ever see a NJ defensemen join in on rushes. NJ plays defense first.

I am not talking about the past, I am talking about this year.

Forgive me if I am, I have a headache today.

This year you really can't compare, we have only been playing half a season, plus with the loss of martin, we really have no offensive defensemen right now... but when we had martin, oduya, etc, our d-men would indeed rush the puck.

On powerplays now, we have no d-men out there, kovulchuck and rolston are our "D"..... Not quite as defensive as days of yore.

Bull****, Kane made contact on the way down, and was atleast even with the crossbar, it was a good ****ing goal.

No even with crossbar=good goal, unless your the Thrashers, that same play was called a goal against us in a game against the Yotes. It was a good goal, and we got ****ing screwed.

Big game Saturday, come on Thrashers, you given me plenty of misery over the years, give me something to cheer about.

New Jersey lost. If Buffalo continues on the pace of the last 10 games, they will end the season with 90 points(give or take a point, doing math in my head). To catch them. That means that NJ needs 20 points to tie them in points, in 12 games. Atlanta needs 18 points in 11 games. Carolina needs 16 in 11 games. That is hard to do, and the worst part is Buffalo is only 5-3-2 on their last 10, so maintaining that pace won't be too hard.

Hey, Rev, sorry the Devils lost to the Sens farm team. Again. Tee hee. :2razz: ;)

As for the Habs... big win last night. And Your Star, Thrashers looked good!

80.3 Disallowed Goal – When an attacking player causes the puck to enter the opponent’s goal by contacting the puck above the height of the crossbar, either directly or deflected off any player or official, the goal shall not be allowed. The determining factor is where the puck makes contact with the stick. If the puck makes contact with the stick below the level of the crossbar and enters the goal, this goal shall be allowed.

They say above, then they say below. nowhere does it say even. :prof

One goal should have been allowed, the other one not so much.... That goalie looks good.... Or the Devils just made him look good...

Oh, so why was the same goal called against us in Phoenix? If that was a goal, so was Kane's, I would like some ****ing consistency.

The Capitals are ruining hockey with thier boring style of trap hockey.... :ssst:

The Capitals can be called alot of things, but boring is not one of them. Winners against the Devils and the team that pretty much ends NJ's playoff chances, that you can say about them.

Hopefully it starts their downturn, one less team in the mix will be helpful.
