Maybe. I don't know Kamala Harris or whether she thinks giving out coffee is beneath her and her staff. Perhaps she didn't want to go out in the cold, or assumed the immigrants didn't like coffee.

The endgame of these stunts is to 'prove' that liberals are just as bad as conservatives, but unlike conservatives, don't have to live with the 'problem' of illegals. That they are just as scared and racist as everyone else, but have the luxury of faking goodwill.

This failed spectacularly on the Vineyard. So, the bad faith southern Governors have begun to adapt their tactics. Picking Harris shows an awareness that their first efforts backfired in the corporate press.

This whole thing is absurd political theater that neither makes a point, or gets anything solved. Ultimately, this should all be on Congress to sort out, so we'll see where this goes in the new year. I won't hold my breath because immigration has been a hot potato for quite some time. Most of the states with large cities have had to deal with illegal immigration as well, the difference is it isn't as visible as people crossing the border, since in places like NYC most come by plane.

After all, when the Texas Republicans introduced their latest round of voter supression laws, they used the exact same language in their public testimony that they ancesctors did when they wrote the Jim Crow laws a century and a half before them.

How is passed through as asylum seekers awaiting adjudication 'dumping', though? Has Congress allotted/mandated resources for asylum seekers but BP/ICE is ignoring its legal obligations?
