It feels SO GOOD to see the left repudiated!

The country made a wrong turn, when they put Lula in charge. It takes a long time to crash a country even if you are a union socialist. ;)

As yet with nothing proved in a court of law whatsover

With 55 votes to convict, the "Acabou A Boquinha" forces can lose one vote and still convict.

That sounds like a vote, not a convinction (i.e in a legal or criminal sence)

Unfortunately, the country will gladly elect another bag of wind making a lot of promises.

Brazil was doing just fine when the military junta was in charge from 1964 to 1985. This is one place where "democracy" has failed. Interim President Michel Temer is moving Brazil as far to the right as he can while he can. He will never run for President of Brazil. He has decided to apply strong medicine without regard to his popularity.

Bem-vindo a Brasil! (Welcome to Brazil)

YSo you would accept that we have no real way of knowing if she is guilty or not? Also if these reforms are so wonderful then why must they be enforced (both in the 70s and today) by subverting democray. Do Brazilians not know what is good for them?

She is guilty, but most of the elected officials are guilty of worse. She is being impeached for doctoring economic statistics. The evidence to convict her of that is rather clear. If Southern Brazil were allowed to secede, I would say Brazil is ready for representative government. Northern Brazil will always vote for those who promise the most free stuff. Political candidates have been known to distribute a large quantity of right sandals. The left sandal is only distributed if the candidate wins. It seems to work pretty well. It was in some state like Ceara, Piaui or Pernambuco. I forget which.
