This is the information that China is interested in. Not our little forum, but social media, in general.

Any disinformation campaign seeks to know its victims' responses. If China can distract us with a balloon, imagine what they can do with something serious, or while we're distracted by a side show.

It was a test of some kind. Human response and actions likely at top of the list of desired observables.

“What is happening here is that television is altering the meaning of 'being informed' by creating a species of information that might properly be called disinformation. I am using this world almost in the precise sense in which it is used by spies in the CIA or KGB. Disinformation does not mean false information. It means misleading information--misplace, irrelevant, fragmented or superficial information--information that creates the illusion of knowing something but which in fact leads one away from knowing. In saying this, I do not mean to imply that television news deliberately aims to deprive Americans of a coherent, contextual understanding of their world. I mean to say that when news is packaged as entertainment, that is the inevitable result. And in saying that the television news show entertains but does not inform, I am saying something far more serious than that we are being deprived of authentic information. I am saying we are losing our sense of what it means to be well informed. Ignorance is always correctable. But what shall we do if we take ignorance to be knowledge?”

With our collective ADHD we've now seen the Balloon, and it's a Spy Balloon at that. I mean, wow! It could have just been a large red balloon and that would have sufficed but a Chinese Spy Balloon? Heaven sent I'd say. lol

The only thwart I can think of is if Frump sent up his own personal balloon in his image. It could be set to burst over Biden's bedroom.

How about we send up a Corn pop balloon in retaliation?

The balloon is an important story in terms of China/US relations. Don't kid yourself. It was a deliberate taunt that needed a response. The ability of the balloon itself is irrelevant.. They have satellites that do more.

Who will have the most popular balloon thread! Enquiring minds want to know!

Balloons can remain stationary, and they can capture radio signals, but yes, that's not what they were doing.

What were they doing?!
At a minimum they could evaluate how our tracking systems interacted with their airship. Their overheads will sniff out what sites and where were tracking them. Much more realistic way to obtain data than rolling in with some MIG's to see what happens. IDK.... I could be wrong. ymmv

Well then, Mr. War, take cover. There's a nuke headed your way. It's a tiny little nuke, but a nuke nonetheless.

BAN THE TINY NUKES!

I'll give you a hint, Mr Cole: Wuhan balloon.
