12-Foot, Overweight Black Woman Statue Erected In Times Square As 'Contrast' To 'White Men' Hero Statues (5 Viewers)

You claiming "DEI is flawed" and unAmerican is just you making an unsupported claim. It isn't just because you say so. It is just you making the claim.

How is this bad? Something isn't simply "bad" just because you think it represents something you don't like. Or in this case, something you've been instructed to dislike.

You have to understand Conservatives believe at its core America is a nation of white men. Anything that gives equal rights and power to people that are not white men is un-American to them.

Why else would you need to purposefully erect a "strong contrast" to statues of "white men" and question who it is that should be "monumentalized?"
To celebrate black women and black people who have been historically marginalized. That doesn't mean white man bad. That's you seeing a celebration of black women and feeling bad and then sharing that feeling with the rest of us to our delight and amusement.
Why not erect a statue of an actual woman in an actual place where she actually did something worth "monumentalizing?"
There there. It has worth to the artist and the association who commissioned it.
All this is is a monument to virtue signaling.
What a hilarious bit of frail framing. Explain to me what that even means and then why you'd have a problem with it.

Why else would you need
You lose right there. Art has nothing to do with need.

absolutely not
Equality of opportunity is a fine thing. it gives those disadvantaged a chance to compete.
Equity of outcome is odious - it manipulates real world outcome in to a mold/formulate to force less qualified into winning a position
Equity has nothing to do with black people. DEI is not just about black people. Equity is giving blind people, people in wheelchairs, people with autism the same opportunities with accommodations. You people misinterpret everything to make it racist. Just like you did with CRT and BLM. Trump thinks erasing black history is addressing DEI. You guys did the same thing with CRT. CRTis not black history. Yes black people should be included in art, education, history and job opportunities. To exclude people because of their color is racist

I'm not embarrassed to say that I like chubby black girls. Nothing wrong with that. In fact, if you don't like chubby black girls then something's wrong with YOU.
I like women of all shapes and sizes and I like how much I encourage meekness in the form of pretense in others. If you can't say it with your chest you're not a real proud boy. Just someone fantasizing and living a life of pretend and make believe about what inspires others.

I rather enjoy my life of fantasizing and make believe, thank you very much.

Woke gone wild but I doubt this is true.

well she is overweight..but the discussion has moved past that to the symbolism involved of the statue given prominence to offset the
"2 white guys" = DEI
Yeah, that's subjective because in some cultures being overweight is seen as attractive. As for the the black woman between two white guys, it's part of what the art represents. One of the issues that comes up when the dominant group has been in full control of representation in media is at some point other groups will want that as well because as humans we like to see ourselves in different ways.

here is a quote from the artists ( see OP)
Yep, I read it in the article. This goes to the point I was making before about representation, and it generally happens because people push back against existing norms. The thing about representation is different groups want to be seen, and with them being in charge of how they're seen versus someone else's interpretation. None of this is given, it requires effort, and that's were initiatives like DEI play a role. The problem with the way some are using "DEI" dismissively ignores what's really going on here.

Statues are typically aspirational figures.
?
Do you mean 'inspirational'?
It's not shocking but quite telling that this is how the left mentally pictures an aspirational black woman.
I don't care about the race, I just prefer women with curves over those little-boys-with-tits figures.

"Installed at ground level on a wide low base, the work invites engagement with the hundreds of thousands of people who traverse the plazas each day, the woman in Grounded in the Stars cuts a stark contrast to the pedestaled permanent monuments — both white, both men — which bookend Duffy Square, while embodying a quiet gravity and grandeur," the Times Square Arts group says on its site.
Thats not what the website says. The link you posted does not say much of anything about white men.

so there is a rather unattractive 12 foot statue in Time Square - can we comment on that?
I don't know who needs to hear this, but you're not supposed to **** statues.
