Here's my list from my iPod:
First Attempt:
John Wesley Harding-"Bastard Son"
Ferron-"Ain't Life a Brook" (I'm gonna see her tonight. Woot!)
Robbie Williams- Eternity (There's an embarrassing one).
Wendy Bucklew- "Right Between"
Coldplay- "Sparks"
Poi Dog Pondering- "A Love Rains Down"
Patty Larkin- "Valentine"
Mary Chapin Carpenter- "Passionate Kisses"
Fiona Apple- "Extraordinary Machine"
Amy Winehouse- "Moody's Mood for Love"
Bruce Springsteen- "Mary's Place"
Second Attempt:
Seal-"Waiting for You (Thick D Remix)"
Poe-Wild
Throwing Muses-"Bea"
Sister Hazel-"Everybody"
John Hammond-"2:19"
Morrissey- "Driving Your Girlfriend Home"
Holly Cole- "I've Just Seen a Face"
Ryan Adams- "You Don't Know Me"
Suzy Bogguss- "It's Always New To Me"
Anders Parker- "Keep Me Hanging On"
Dead Milkmen- "Lucky"

The song "Let Down" does it for me. I know what you mean about visceral reactions because even without words, this one would elicit justthat in me. It has such a -- I don't know what to call it, like a crystaline quality to it with the layered guitars, and as they constantly build up the tension it's like the song itself is about to shatter.
I think it's really beautiful, myself.
Don't worry, KC, I think your a kid.Originally posted by KCConservative:

Have you ever heard the New Pornographers? Ignore the name if it worries you because they only chose it in reference to some doofus who called rock music "the new pornography", but if you like Shins, I think you might like them -- intelligent power pop with great hooks.
Wow, I've never heard that one. Must be a beauty.robin said:I love his 'Goodbye Pork Pie Hat', tribute to Lester Young, played by Jeff Beck.

By the way, Gardener, nice to meet you.

Well, the first time I ever played the Brian Eno cut "Babies on Fire" and heard the Robert Fripp solo, one of my Advent speakers spontaneously disconnected itself from the input jack, slipped outside and commited hara kiri by falling on a piece of the glass shrapnel caused by the shattering of my living room window.
Thankfully, the doctor was able to repair my bleeding ear drums, the only lingering side effects being a slight dispensation towards drippage from time to time.
