10 yr old shot two weeks after 2 yr old

Your angry diatribe and four letter words do nothing to advance your faulty logic.

other than a desire to harass people who aren't left-wingers, what exactly justifies your anti gun arguments?

I went back to the beginning of 2008 before I stopped reading. Like I said, chiefs (and, by extension, majors, commissioners, leadership in general who are likely to be appointed political positions) are a different story. I saw an abundance of comments by them but, since I already acknowledged their possible anti-gun sentiment, I ignored them. Not one entry from an officer on the street shows a preference for banning any type of firearm.

Around the start of Clinton's second term or so, AG Janet Reno commissioned a major study of how cops viewed that Administration's gun laws-the Brady Bill (background checks and a 3 day wait to buy a gun) and the "assault weapons" ban. Not surprisingly 90% or more of line officers and supervisors opposed both laws. So the study was never publicly disseminated. Each office of the United States Attorney, IIRC, got a copy. One was in the mail area of one of the offices I often was in and I read it. The local FBI office's firearms instructor did to and he was hard core NRA. So plenty of people saw it but at the time it was not released.

My point

That guns make being shot possible

That the sheer number of gun deaths and injuries in the USA is out of control.

Why do you oppose gun control ?
Why, in your mind, are guns needed ?
Define out of control

2/3s of gun deaths are suicides and other countries with gun bans, prove a gun ban (which cannot happen anyway) won't stop suicides

80% or more of the gunshot homicides involve felons (people who cannot legally own guns) killing felons

Not for one person but for a population of armed individuals
Just as one person owning a gun does not interfere with one person walking down the street, neither does a thousand people owning guns interfere with one person walking down the street.

Perhaps not walking down the street but in a bar/club/mall exposed to an active shooter...for children add in schools
Move those goalposts.

No it means I'm more likely to be in a crash with a DUI driver whether in my car or walking down the street as alcohol diminishes recognition and reaction times
Yes, it does. That is an accompanying risk with the presence of alcohol.

Prohibition has been tried once and it failed
And you have learned nothing from that fact, apparently, other than the fact itself. It's like teaching you addition, but instead of extrapolating from 1+1=2 and 1+2=3, you need specific instruction for each set of added numbers, and cannot use the established pattern to determine the answer to 1+3.

How do you feel about compulsory background checks
The devil, as always, is in the details. What counts as a "transfer" that triggers the background check requirement? Can I hand my big-bore revolver to the guy in the next stall at the range and let him try it out without an FFL? Can I run a NICS check myself without being forced to pay an FFL to facilitate the transfer?

and mandatory registration of all firearms
Hell no. First of all, I don't trust people like you whose stated end goal is repeal of the second amendment and confiscation of all guns to stop at simple registration. I want to keep that travesty of a plan as difficult to implement as possible. Second, the probability of an actual invasion by a foreign army is not zero. The last thing I want for an invading army to get their hands on is a list of names and addresses of all the gun owners in the country. Third, it's just none of your ****ing business if I have guns or not.

So you want guns for excuse 2.2 ?
Wut?

THe US should allow gun manufacturers to be sued and their CEO's imprisoned. Also, death penalty for the NRA spokesmen and women would go a long way.
FoMoCo,GM,and all the others best be ready. And if that happens there will be a severe shortage of spokesmen.

And 393,000,000 guns with 40,000 gun deaths aren't?
Awful lot of guns. So we have about 80-100 million owners with multiple firearms (3 here). But you see your still counting suicides, gang on gang and police shootings(legal) and DGU shootings by your average Joe or Josie. Pretty much any thing gun related.

Getting back to the op. At what point does the freedom of a child to safely walk the street become infringed by the rights of those bearing arms?

I suggest we have crossed that line is all.
I suggest that you take it up with the gangers. Also didn't the article say something about the one they have in custudy "who tried to shield the boy".
