‘Four Times Greater Than Solyndra’: DOE Drops 1,200 Pages Of Heavily Redacted Docs On

Re: ‘Four Times Greater Than Solyndra’: DOE Drops 1,200 Pages Of Heavily Redacted Doc

When we have to borrow the money that is being "invested", then I consider that a waste. Furthermore, considering the fact that these so-called alternative forms of energy aren't economically viable, any investment in them by the government is, in my mind, a waste of taxpayer's money.

But, bottom line...I think private businesses who want to develop alternative forms of energy should seek investment from private sources...not the government. If such development is considered useful or viable, then the private investment will be there. If the private money isn't there, then private investors consider such development a waste of their money. The government would be wise to emulate those private investors instead of wasting taxpayer's money.

We've had to "borrow" the money to pay for farm subsidies for decades.

Re: ‘Four Times Greater Than Solyndra’: DOE Drops 1,200 Pages Of Heavily Redacted Doc

Time after time when I point out how much money the inept leadership and management to agencies cost it is people on the left that poo poo the cost away UNTIL it comes to the money spent on the Benghazi investigation. That is less than 3 million. The State Department LOST (as in can't figure out where it went) 6 billion dollars. The answers I get side step the issue. Whether wasted money is an issue or it isn't. Is it only an issue if a Republican does it? Maybe it is an agency thing. We will only notice it if it is an agency that someone doesn't like. 6 BILLION from one agency that was under the guidance of Hillary Clinton.

State Dept. misplaced $6B under Hillary Clinton: IG report - Washington Times

The IG report:

SUBJECT:

$6 billion vanished in Iraq under Bush.

All subsidies need to end.

Well, at least you talk the consistent talk.
Yes, I know.

That's one reason why I get so damn annoyed at some people here.

Okay. When have I defended our government's action to pay farm subsidies?

Given the title of this thread, I don't think farm subsidies are even on topic...but government investment into alternate forms of energy is on topic.

Maybe you don't understand that?

And the government shouldn't be picking winners and losers in industry. Why would any citizen with scruples trust our livelihood to politicians? We need to limit the way government interferes with our lives. Not empower it to do more.

All subsidies need to end.

As long those subsidies result in a re-election rate of over 90% for congress critters then they will never end.

Sad, but true.

Our electorate is the root problem for the selfishness they use when they vote.

We probably have one of the dumbest electorate in the world, not realizing how their selfishness affects everyone else.

Re: ‘Four Times Greater Than Solyndra’: DOE Drops 1,200 Pages Of Heavily Redacted Doc

I don't believe so.

Unless we're to believe 2 years later they fell back in love with the guy?

You might want to take a closer look at the Obama's second run at the White House. A White Mormon gave him a run for his money. Sometimes people get lucky, and Obama certainly did.

Again, your view of history appears to be conveniently removing reality in favor of a sugar coated re-write that is only fodder for a rally, not a history book.

When you consider the bigotry against Mormons, Romney might have won if he was a catholic, protestant, or something else.

It's not hard to believe what you wrote is true. Obama was vulnerable the second time around.

Why would any citizen with common sense and a memory of recent events believe a word the government says, whether about green energy or anything else?

I have no problem with government helping advance certain technologies and scientific applications, but the way Obama did it was very poorly handled, giving the strong appearance of cronyism and corruption.

Go back and read my comment on "hypocrisy" until you finally comprehend it.

Oh...I fully understand that you'd rather talk about some perceived hypocrisy than the actual topic of this thread.

Maybe most voters don't have common sense...

Just look at the self centered pieces of horse pucky we elect!

They get elected, because of their charisma and ability to trick weak minds into voting for them.

When is the last time you actually voted for a candidate instead of voting for the lesser evil?

I have no problem with government helping advance certain technologies and scientific applications, but the way Obama did it was very poorly handled, giving the strong appearance of cronyism and corruption.
Except for monumental challenges, I prefer letting the free market do such things on their own timeline. All Obama is doing, since he is the worst of any president in several decades, is exposing such bad things at a degree more people notice it.

Companies are competitive, and will spend their own money to try to stay one step or more ahead of the competition. When the government promises money, they no longer compete for such things on their own, but compete to put on the best selling points to get that money. Government intervention slows down progress in such matters. It doesn't help.

Actually, at least on the POTUS level, I've been voting for the LP candidate for 20 years or more. I knew it was a losing vote, but at least my conscience is clear the next morning. ;)

You have your opinions - I'll stand by the facts.

The people spoke through their votes, but you can spin it in whichever way makes you happy.

Ok. Not sure what facts you are standing by, but you are welcome to whatever ones you can find that support your opinion.

I'm standing by the vote.

You know, where the citizens speak?

Which I trust a lot more than theories, as interesting as they may be.

Re: ‘Four Times Greater Than Solyndra’: DOE Drops 1,200 Pages Of Heavily Redacted Doc

IOW, you are eager to sweep this hypocrisy under the rug.

Sorry, no, put this complaint in perspective.
You're comparing a $2 billion loan to handing out $20 billion for basically no reason. This is not a real complaint. It's political posturing. This isn't a real waste of money except for the time the politicians have wasted.

Now you are criticizing the actions of politicians. That's the idea. Ignore what they say. What they do is what matters.

Re: ‘Four Times Greater Than Solyndra’: DOE Drops 1,200 Pages Of Heavily Redacted Doc

I understand all of that i'm just saying that republican politicians complain about this stuff as though they're actually against it on principle when in reality they're in favor of it as long as they get to take credit for it among the voters who it helps.

Sadly that is how politics works. We need single term limits to end this addiction to reelection.

Barrack Hussein Obama is the best example of the Dunning-Kruger Effect.

Because he has been to some of the best schools (all tending to the Left) and has been raised and taught in an anti American atmosphere by his far left parents and guardians, attended a anti American Church for 20 years, hung around with anti American (and often violent) protesters, he genuinely believes that America is the center of the worlds problems and without American power the world would be a better place.

Hillary Clinton feels the same way, and so do their followers.

The Dunning-Kruger Effect. and it is common among those attending Universities and followers of the Democratic party, is that stupid people have no idea they are stupid and believe themselves to be quite intelligent. This despite all the evidence we have seen, both in the cases of HRC and BHO.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dunning–Kruger_effect

Part of the problem can be traced back to everyone getting a prize for 'Participation'. Self esteem remains high while competence and general intelligence remains low.

Re: ‘Four Times Greater Than Solyndra’: DOE Drops 1,200 Pages Of Heavily Redacted Doc

No, it really isn't. The government is the will of the people and i have faith in my fellow Americans. If you don't have that faith, there are plenty of other countries you can move to.

You mean government is the will of the people when a democrat is in office.

Would you have invested money in Abengoa?

Anyone who believes that government is the will of the people is either extremely simple minded, ignorant, or maybe both.
