‘Absurdity to a new level’ as Russia takes charge of UN security council

I don't support those so-called national interests; I support international interests.

You can repeat yourself all you want. The window of opportunity of me replying to your replies is closing again.

Whether you support them or not, doesn’t matter. US interests exist. You can stick you head in the sand and pretend they don’t, but the world will move on without you. It won’t care that you prefer fantasy land except to mock your ideas.

It’s telling that you won’t engage with real world scenarios. You aren’t here to address real problems. You’re here to bask in your own “genius” and make yourself feel superior while you pontificate nonsense.

Your "fantasy" accusations are weak. I'm a progressive, so of course I discuss things that aren't fully actualized.

Antiwar cannot even articulate his personal ideology beyond "get rid of all nukes" - as if that is in the least bit realistic.

Really? The international justice system you propose is “fully actualized”?

What’s it mechanism for ending the war in Ukraine? How does it get Russia to stop fighting and end its territorial demands?

:::crickets:::

You have the opportunity to post your solutions in another thread:

I already did.

Now what is the mechanism your international justice system would use to stop the war in Ukraine? How do they get Russia to stop fighting and drop its territorial demands?

One short reply.

You've constantly claimed that nothing will work, so I'll let that stand.

No, I haven’t. I’ve consistently claimed that helping Ukraine defend themselves and continue retaking their territory will work and IS ALREADY WORKING.

But it’s nice of you to admit you have no solutions to Ukraine that don’t involve appealing to a fantasy world.

You should consider slowing down so that you can track the discussion. @W_Heisenberg also lost track of the discussion in this thread.

I haven’t missed any of your posts. The point of mine still stands.

I have in fact given a solution to the war in Ukraine, one that is already working. You can only appeal to a fantasy world and complain no one is following a “peace process”.

PART 2

Here is an incomplete list of Marxist-Leninist groups, governments, and revolutions that sought to use violence to force their government on their populations:
  • Cuban Revolution
  • Chinese Communist Revolution
  • Vietnamese War of Independence
  • Angolan Civil War (1975–2002): The Marxist-Leninist Popular Movement for the Liberation of Angola (MPLA) received support from the Soviet Union in its fight against rival factions during the civil war. The MPLA established a socialist government in Angola.
  • Ethiopian Revolution (1974–1991): The Derg, a Marxist-Leninist military junta led by Mengistu Haile Mariam, overthrew Emperor Haile Selassie and established a socialist government in Ethiopia. The Derg received support from the Soviet Union.
  • Nicaraguan Revolution (1978–1990): The Sandinista National Liberation Front (FSLN), a Marxist-Leninist group, overthrew the Somoza dictatorship and established a socialist government in Nicaragua. The FSLN received support from the Soviet Union.
  • Mozambican War of Independence (1964–1974) and Mozambican Civil War (1977–1992): The Marxist-Leninist FRELIMO party led the struggle for independence from Portuguese colonial rule and later fought against anti-communist forces in the civil war. FRELIMO received support from the Soviet Union.
  • North Korea: During the Korean War, the Soviet Union provided military aid to communist North Korea, which was led by Kim Il-sung. North Korea invaded South Korea, triggering the conflict.
  • Congo Crisis (1960–1965): The Soviet Union provided support to Marxist-Leninist elements in the Congo during the Congo Crisis, a period of political and military upheaval following the country's independence from Belgium.
  • Afghan Revolution (1978): The Soviet Union supported the communist People's Democratic Party of Afghanistan (PDPA) in its successful coup d'état against President Mohammad Daud Khan. The PDPA established a socialist government in Afghanistan.
  • Grenada Revolution (1979–1983): The New Jewel Movement, a Marxist-Leninist party led by Maurice Bishop, overthrew the government of Grenada and established a socialist government. The revolution received support from the Soviet Union and Cuba.
  • Salvadoran Civil War (1980–1992): The Farabundo Martí National Liberation Front (FMLN), a Marxist-Leninist guerrilla group, fought against the government of El Salvador during the civil war. The FMLN received support from the Soviet Union and Cuba.
  • Cambodian Civil War (1967–1975): The Khmer Rouge, a communist movement led by Pol Pot, fought against the government of Cambodia during the civil war. The Khmer Rouge received support from the Soviet Union and China.
  • Guatemalan Civil War (1960–1996): The Guatemalan National Revolutionary Unity (URNG), a Marxist-Leninist guerrilla group, fought against the government of Guatemala during the civil war. The URNG received support from the Soviet Union and Cuba.
  • Angolan War of Independence (1961–1975): The Popular Movement for the Liberation of Angola (MPLA), a Marxist-Leninist group, fought for independence from Portuguese colonial rule. The MPLA received support from the Soviet Union.
  • Ethiopian Civil War (1974–1991): The Derg, a Marxist-Leninist military junta, overthrew Emperor Haile Selassie and established a socialist government
It's when you look at the totality of the history of Cold War that you recognize the general strategy of the U.S. and the West were justified. Neither the Soviets nor the Marxist Leninists they supported ever asked the populations of these countries what they wanted. It's within the context of the spread of Communist revolutions throughout the world that the U.S. and the West acted swiftly to defend Western and Modern civilization.

The U.S. was forced to support dictators and overthrow governments because Communists and Marxist-Leninists were using violence -- in real-time -- to overthrow Western-supported governments.

And this was a practical necessity as well because the U.S. and the West did not have unlimited resources. It was sometimes cheaper to overthrow governments and install dictators. And if we hadn't done so we may not have been able to beat the Communists. We would have run out of resources.
Forced 😂 yeah forced to create banana republics for US corporations. The US didnt give a shit about democracy back then. After the cold war there were a few exceptions. Many of those efforts helped the fascists get back up from the grave.

If you wanna know why fascism didnt die in the 40s well look inward. Why must you pretend otherwise? Just for jingoism sake? The people didnt want those dictators either but money talks.

Are ya upset people rose up against apartheid without America’s help until way way into the regime’s demise?

Depends on the country.
No. We have not taken any part of another country and declared it now part of the USA. We have not run any sham elections in seized regions to justify seizing parts of other nations. We respect national borders.

It was far easier to conceal government dirty deals/deeds in the 1950's, 60's, 70's and even into the 80's.

The Digital Age changed that to a great degree, but also created additional problems such as disinformation and conspiracy flooding the information highway.

More specifically if you wanna know who contributed more to the second rise of fascism in the modern day, the CIA

Depends on the time period too.

The banana republic issue is very well known.

More specifically the CIA and the FBI didnt give a shit about democracy, they were democracy’s biggest enemies imo.

The Mafia? Who? The Gambino family? The Genovese family?

You're so deep in Conspiracy you no longer know up from down lol.
United fruit company’s involvement in destabilizing developing economies in order to create slave states is very very well known.

I don't quite understand why you and others think the U.S. and the West was just supposed to sit back and let the Communists take over countries all over the world. I don't think every action the U.S. did was justified or perfect, but the U.S. government was trying to act, in real-time, with incomplete information to prevent the spread of Communism. The general strategy employed was practical and justified given the intent of Marxist-Leninists. And, for some reason, nobody has anything negative to say about people like Lenin who basically murdered their way to power and prevented people from choosing what kind of government they wanted.
