I want to get something out of the way (since a lot of moderates and leftists have to lately). The murder of Charlie Kirk was disgusting. I feel bad for his family. I hate that he lost his life so young. I actually think Tyler Robinson should get the death penalty because it was pre-planned and it was malicious. However, I want to address these arguments that rhetoric got him killed and that rhetoric supposedly only happens on the left. First of all, there’s no amount of rhetoric that excuses murder. It’s basically saying you can’t have an opinion or somebody might kill another person. Furthermore, I want to discuss the rhetoric the right has inflicted the past ten or more years that have in fact lead out to violence. First, let’s...
Americas political divide isnt just about cultural differences or team colors - it's about power. When the state is small, most disagreements stay personal. When the state grows and regulates nearly every corner of life, those disagreements turn political, because the winner gets to impose their vision - by force - on everyone else. The rise of the progressive regulatory state - where the entire economy is controlled at some level by the government - is what created this problem. Healthcare, education, housing, even the amount of water your toilet flushes - all are shaped by government decisions. That means every election is high stakes. Today the state controls what kind of car you may drive, what guns you may own, which drugs you may...
The Charlie Kirk Assassination proves that we must teach America’s citizens more about rhetoric In the past couple of days, the Utah Governor remarked (and I’m paraphrasing here) that when politicians say that they are “at war” with the other side, it’s just rhetoric. It’s the same thing, he says, as when two NFL teams are “at war” on the sports field. I remember back when Candy Crowley used to refer to her analysis of the interviews on her shows as “post-game analysis.” The only problem is that wars are only “fun” until someone gets hurt. The attempted assassination (twice) of President Donald Trump, the assassination of Charlie Kirk, and, yes, even January 6th, have shown what happens when supporters take their leaders’ rhetoric at...
Bipartisan Immigration Bill S.4361 — 118th Congress (2023-2024) Sponsored By, Senators Chris Murphy (D-CT), Kyrsten Sinema (I-AZ), and James Lankford (R-OK). The bill expands Department of Homeland Security (DHS) authority to address the processing of non-U.S. nationals (aliens under federal law) and provides supplemental appropriations for related purposes. Among other provisions, the bill provides DHS emergency authority to summarily remove or prohibit the entry of certain non-U.S. nationals within 100 miles of the southwest land border. DHS may exercise this authority if DHS encounters an average of 4,000 non-U.S. nationals within a seven-day period. If the number of encounters reach certain higher thresholds, DHS must exercise the...
Just so you know!
I am well aware that many of you think I am a far-left wing radical. Sometimes I think I am moving further to the left; however, what you have to be aware of is that I am still a moderate lefty. There are many people who are much further left than I and they are far less forgiving than I am. I firmly believe the right has forgotten their allegiance to this country and have sold out pervert scumbags like Trump. Trump is a domestic enemy who has no use for the law or the constitution. He cares about his money and raping children. Sadly, the right-wing seems to support this and I find this despicable. I am not shy about pointing out the failings of the right, and just so you know, I feel like it is my duty to stand up and defend my...
The “United” States of America is perhaps the biggest oxymoron of our time. We are fractured, bitter, and defensive, quick to vilify anyone who disagrees. Social media has only poured fuel on the fire, giving us soundbites instead of substance and name-calling instead of conversation. If there’s any hope for this country, it lies not in shouting louder but in relearning grace. Gordon Wilson, after losing his daughter in a terrorist attack during Ireland’s Troubles, chose forgiveness instead of hate. That choice helped move a divided nation toward peace. America desperately needs that kind of wisdom now. Listening Instead of Reacting Recently, I watched clips of Charlie Kirk debating college students and activists. To my surprise, what...
Imagine a world where progressives were listened to first, not last. Where progressives were an equal part of the conversation, and not the opinion and direction of last resort -- fought against by the center and the right-wing -- after the calamity and the aftermath had done their damage and there were not other options. When the mainstream opinion stops resisting and says, 'Okay, you win, you were right all along'. Not a progressive world, just one where progressives were taken seriously on economics, foreign policy, human rights, etc. Would there have been an Iraq invasion? Would there have been a Economic Collapse in 2007? Would there have been a Donald Trump? Would there have been a genocide in Gaza? You can traces this...
Stolen land
Now that the riots in L.A. have brought it into the open that this is about much more than immigration, it's about the belief that California was stolen from Mexico, I thought it'd be timely to repost the conversation I had with three old Mexican gentlemen in San Diego County, back in '88. 1988. The Hell's Angels controlled the meth trade in California, I had a friend in San Diego County who was fourth generation Italian-American, deep roots in San Diego, well liked by the Catholic fathers in the Mission system, by the Natives out on the rez, and by the old-time Mexicans. I walked into his house one day, and three old Mexican men, who could have been anywhere from sixty to a hundred and ten years old, or more, stopped their...
I came upon the following blog and thought I just had to post it. One of the most intelligent and heart-warming blogs I have ever seen. Though not mine. This forum, unfortunately, has it's fair share of people who first won't read the entire blog, or if they do, will quickly mock it. That is a shame and shameful, but it is what it is. Nevertheless the author had wise words to pass on and I can ONLY wish people will read it in entirety and with an open-mind. July 25, 2025 A Word for Young Men Dear young male friends: I’m here to share some insights gained in my 71 years of being a white male heterosexual American, advice that is the product of lessons I’ve learned, in many cases, the hard way. I am good with being who I am. I’m...
