"CNN —
President-elect Donald Trump said Wednesday he has picked David Warrington to serve as his White House counsel and that Bill McGinley, whom Trump had previously tapped for the role, will instead serve as counsel to the Department of Government Efficiency.

The move was seen by some in Trump’s orbit as the result of an effort to push McGinley, someone with whom Trump was not deeply familiar, out of the key role. McGinley initially got the nod after top Trump aide Boris Epshteyn pushed him for the job and got him across the finish line, multiple sources told CNN at the time. Epshteyn, who CNN recently reported was the subject of an internal investigation into allegations that he sought to gain financially from his influence with Trump and others in his orbit, had helped fill a number of legal roles within the administration."

Four years of drama, comin' up!

It’s only been a month, longest transition I can recall.

How is there an appointed counsel to a non existent department? Will it be tax payer funded?

I can only hope that this incompetence carries over into all the awful stuff he does. Which means I have to hope Trump doesn't choke on a bucket of big macs.

Because competent evil with his very same plans would do catastrophic damage. On the other hand, if Trump manages to squash a mushroom every time he takes a step, maybe he'll fail to be as awful as he could be . . .

Maybe Elon will pay him, though I wouldn't bet on it.

Musk has said there is no pay over at DOGE, think the lawyer is signing on pro bono?

Trump has an entire toolbox of self-destructive traits, and is inability to hold together a leadership team is among them.

The revolving door of the Trump cabinet is going to be turning even faster this time- like an airplane propeller. Even if these folks manage to get confirmed, which is difficult because they are not getting properly vetted by the Trump and his team (because the only qualifications being looked at seem to be that 1) they have sucked up to Trump, 2) they are good-lookin', and/or 3) they have been on TV), they won't last long and will get spit right back out through the other side of the door faster than they know what just happened.

Be ready for another 4 years of high dysfunction, chaos, and drama.

One thing has troubled me, the November election has come and gone and there hasn’t been a whisper of the discontent we saw in 2016-17, Is everyone exhausted or is certification and inauguration going to be testy?

I think it's just exhaustion. Personally, I feel like there is no way around Trump: people just have to really get a full dose. The pandemic gave him an excuse and did not allow America to feel the full weight of his incompetence (even though the country handled Covid worse than any other developed economy on the planet- but that's apparently not enought). People are nostalgic for 4 years ago and feel like they were doing better then than they are now.

Just as a reminder: this was America 4 years ago:

Trump is just going to dump anyone he doesn't like on Musk and DOGE, isn't he? This could get juicy.

Musk says there is no pay…..

Yeah right...other than the $3B in new contracts Trump promised him
Think he will “share the wealth?”

3 billion is small potatoes, Musk has increased hiss wealth significantly since the election.

Easy when you buy a President and right out in the open

The barbarians won so the barbarians are not protesting.

I mean, if you believe in the republic, what would you protest about? The people have spoken.

Now is the time for quiet reflection and even quieter sabotage.

You missed one...

Musk says there is no pay…..
If you can't think how someone at DOGE could make money stick to his fingers by the bale, I am disappointed in you.

This is the world looking at America right now:

It's not like he hasn't had the job before, though. So why is he making rookie mistakes?

Seems to me it's like that quote about the Bourbon restoration.... "they've learned nothing and forgotten nothing..."

Sometimes we measure people’s employment in scaramuccis.

He appears to be putting as much thought and energy into this Presidency as he did into the last.

And we know from experience that during his first term, virtually all of his time was spent playing golf, watching television, eating and sleeping. He does not like to work, and he certainly doesn't like sweating the details on anything, so I doubt any of his picks involved more than 5 minutes of thought.
