Should sex ed be taught in schools?

You can't be concerned with the modern age if you are trying to pick up the responses of people who say we need to go back to how things use to be.
I was comparing and contrasting. Sorry if that confused you.

My school district had a pilot program for sex ed. Guess who was in the pilot class!

It was grade 6. Our guidance councilor taught it and did a good job.

Grade 6 seems right.
Difficult to set an age
15 or 16 for males to engage with older skilled women
Would lower the rates of fake orgasms and in and off syndrome

I was comparing and contrasting.

Nobody cares about your comparing and contrasting. Why didn't people have access to sex ed before the 1960s? What happened during the 1960s to change society's views on whether to educate people on sex?

Come on, you can do it.

😄

Of course not all parents have their kids best interest at heat, but most do!

I think you're being optimistic here. In our society, there are few things that stir up fear more than the thought of sexually active teens.

This just isn't as much of a problem in Western Europe, where it's understood that teens will sometimes engage in sexual behavior, and the best course of action is to give them the tools to keep them physically and emotionally safe.

LOL. ‘Nobody” or “you”? People did not have access to sex education before the 1960s because our society was different 60 years ago, and I suspect it will different 60 years from now. Do you not realize that many aspects of of our lives evolve over years? Including sexuality? You cannot be that naive. Oh wait…

I am optimistic. The alternative is to be pessimistic. I prefer to be joyful and believe in our society. If you opt for the opposite that is totally on you. Good luck.

Absolutely nobody talked about farm life until you did. Kind of strange that you know that farm life that made women have a lot of kids, but when pressed you can't come up with facts for why there was no sex ed back then.

Hmmmm.

😅

Nobody or you?

At what grade level would you consider it appropriate?
Should the sex ed be inclusive or restricted to just the basics?
(excluding talk about sexual preferences, as an example)
Should it be allowed in school at all?

Vote above and have your say......
Yay or nay?

More than one choice available.

My mistake, you said 5th grade, not 15th years old.

I will argue that sex education should start way way before 5th grade. Are you against that? I think it should start in preschool.
In Ontario sex ed begins in the primary grades with naming body parts, foot, elbow, penis, labia, rectum etc. There have been complaints about that taking a child's innocence. By people apparently confusing innocence with ignorance.

Education is never a bad thing
Easiest weight to carry is an education

Nobody or you?

Nobody, TamleeB as is your usual MO. Talk about something nobody talks about, then make that the topic.

Come on, do better.

😅

I am doing perfectly fine. If you are struggling I will send prayers your way. ;)

I am doing perfectly fine.

There goes TamleeB, talking about herself again. If only we got just 1 thread with her in it where she didn't try to make it about herself, it would be a first.

😅

Awww….thanks Hatuey, I appreciate you going out of your way noticing how special I am. I can always count on your total support. Do keep up the good work. :ROFLMAO:

People had a lot of children. The reality was they needed help on their farms. Often religious beliefs also entered into that impact. Many factors paid a role in larger families.
Not everyone was on the farm. There was no easy to use birth control until the 60s. Before that it was condoms, diaphragms, coitus interruptus, and abstinence.

See? The topic is sex ed, and she talks about herself. How strange.

How do you know!?!?! Were you there? @TamleeB says you need to have been there to know.

😂

I agree. If you go back and look at my post you will see I was referencing the early 1900s. I am more than aware that reliable birth control (other than abstinence) didn’t happen in the early 1900s. That WAS my point.
But with that being said, how one gets pregnant was a fairly logical concept. I am thankfully for the ability for modern day women to take control of their own destiny and their own bodies. It was a wonderful thing.

😂
Where did I say that? Can you offer specifics? I did indeed mention it was different back then sexually, and so was birth control.

Never said such a thing. I do believe life was different back then. Let me educate you a bit. Often houses didn’t even have electricity, families grew their own food, heated their homes with wood, many children didn’t attend school and were taught at home. They were unable to go to the local pharmacy to get condoms and a Diet Coke.
I am willing to offer more to you if you wish? I promise Hatuey I am your go to. Just let me know. I am here for you.
