When government builds infrastructure such as roads, bridges, and mass transit systems, they are not "transfer agents" or whatever stupid term that you used earlier. They are creating a strong foundation for an economy to function efficiently. That has intrinsic value in and of itself.

Plus, you don't acknowledge how government has made our society healthier through programs like Medicare, Medicare, medical research, etc. Having a healthier, longer living workforce also has significant intrinsic value to our economy. Fighting pollution via the EPA also helps create a healthier society, which also improves our economy.

And government also plays a massive role in technological innovation. The Dept of Defense created the precursor to the Internet in the 1970s and 1980s, which virtually every business in the U.S. uses today. Not to mention NASA. Same thing with all of the developmental research conducted by colleges and universities such as MIT.

In both those cases, DARPA Net and NASA, it was not the government that created these things or accomplished those feats.

You simply can't accept that government is overhead, can you? That says a lot about you.
