Yes, Barry,we are a nation of takers.

SS is a mandatory INSURANCE program that is meant to give SECURITY. Otherwise it would be called Social Roulette. That is nothing like a 401K which is great if you can afford to have one. Many can't.

You mentioned that not everyone can pay into a 401k...which statistically does far better than your investment in SS. If you were not forced to buy this insurance you could invest in a 401k and get a better return.

Even though SS is meant to give security, it doesn't. If you are 30 years old, do you realistically believe SS will be there in your future the way it is now? No...you would be delusional if you thought that. What kind of security is that?

I am sure that the American people will not fail. You should also have more faith in your country, it is the greatest in the world. Half the problem is the lack of kowledge of our history. The America you know has not been around that long, we were rather ordinary nation before WWII and the New deal gave us direction.

And i do believe in saying that that middle class is declining?

Significantly and rapidly.

America is special in that the main two parties both believe that the only way to make people like America more is to invade them...

Whereas most Americans feel that the only way to make people like America more is.... NOPE. Real Americans don't give a **** if foreigners like America or not. In fact our families came to this country to get away from you folks in Europe.

I have great faith in my country. That is why I know they will fix SS. That is why I believe it will not exist as I know it today when I retire.

As far as the new deal goes...not a fan. But that is beside the point.

I'll be 39 in July and I don't expect to ever qualify for Social Security. My age for benefits is already 67 if not higher, and I'm sure that will go up in the near future.

^^Truth!

Religious Freedom and Economic Opportunity drove my family here.

....And here we see an even more common Liberal trait: the unwillingness to actually answer questions/comments and instead deflect with insults. Rather well done. Who knows maybe one or two people will not notice that you ignored responding to the vast majority of my comments.

I answered perfectly: anybody who calls are system "socialism" is using a rightwing meme because he's economically illiterate.

That's it. There's nothing more to say. If you want to discuss actual facts and economic reaity let me know. Meantime, I'll just make fun of your counterfactual memes and how they are your little substitute for an argument.

No, America WAS special. A long time ago. The New Deal was simply a continuation and expansion on the usurption of State power that the Federal Government had been undertaking since the Lincoln Administration. Lincoln used the Constitution for toilet paper and FDR simply flushed it down the toilet afterwards.

You are right that we shouldn't be like every other nation. We should be a nation of Personal Responsibility, not expecation of constant Government Subsidy and Support.

More counterfactual memes.

The post war New Deal ushed in the biggest expansion of the US economy in history, rivaled only by the Clinton years.

But don't let the facts stop you from posting the same foolish talking points.

We haven't entirely reached Socialism yet, but we're headed that way and FDR's New Deal set us well and truly down that path.

They probably substitute for an arguement because I'm not here to argue with you. Nor am I here to debate anything with you. I'd be happy to discuss the points I made a few posts back, but if you're looking for an arguement or debate you'll need to go elsewhere.

Simply because it was the largest expansion of the US Economy does not make it good, right, decent, or moral. It was none of those things. It was also not Constitutional.

It is apparent that you are uncomfortable with our nation being number one in the world. I'm sorry for you.

It's not about being number one or number two hundred. It's about a society and a government that are based on the proper ideals and values within appropriate limits. It that means we're number one, great. If it means we're at the bottom of the list, that's fine too.

Could you define Real American?

In fact our families came to this country to get away from you folks in Europe

Thanks for acknowledging that I am a European. However they were really enticed by the American Dream and the wealth and prosperity that appeared to come with it OR to flee persecution to the "New World"

No. WW2 ushered in the biggest expansion of the US economy in history, the New Deal did not work in the way you describe it. It was a recovery package not an expansion package. unemp2.webp

The First Drop is the New Deal's Introduction, then it rises again as it was only a short term solution therefore there was the "Second New Deal" which is the second drop.

Could you define Real American?

Very simply Real Americans are those who still hold to the values and ideals that this country was founded on, not the corrupted versions of them that exist today.

Trust me, being called a European by me is NOT a compliment. Exactly. They saw that America was a different place than Europe. That there WAS opportunity there, which was not available in Europe. That there was Freedom and Liberty in the US more than in Europe. That's largely why many of us do not want to replicate the society and culture of Europe. We remember why it is that our families LEFT Europe.

Hold on then. Thank you for acknowledging that I am British. I am annoyed by the lack of liberty that this country has inherited from the "third way" politicians and the Labour Party, hence why i like the way America Looks, free and constitutional.
now all America needs is a monarch for the scandels...

Trust me we have plenty of scandals with our politicians. What we do not have is a nation of Freedom OR Constitutionality, nevermind both. The United States is well on its way to joining our European and British cousins as the Socialized States of America, or the United Socialist States of America. The America you're looking for exists only in history books and the stories of old men at this point in time.

And now conservatives are against economic progess. Their decent into total lunacy and irrelevancy continues apace, apace, apace.

Exactly. Conservatism is essentially anti-american if not nihilistic. They hate the modern world and its prosperity. No doubt because working people get indoor plumbing.

No. What Conservatives are against is the Government becoming more and more involved in providing basic services for private citizens. Things like food, housing, healthcare, etc.... which the Government has no Constitutionally mandated business being involved in to begin with.

So even if Govt. being involved produces more prosperity than any population in the history of the World has enjoyed, it's a BAD thing?

I am not sure how prosperity equates to the government providing housing, healthcare, etc.

Wouldn't prosperity be the people providing housing, healthcare, etc.?

Psssst: that's why modern economies are so productive. Join modernity and stop visitiing Breitbart's website.

As to your constitutional fantasy: the SC disagrees. You lose.

Then modern economics are the problem, not the solution. Oh, and I've never been to Breitbart's website.

As to your constitutional fantasy: the SC disagrees. You lose.

I have the guns. They lose.
