It's a fairly small correlation though: (r = 0.05, p = 0.05)So much for the picture the liberals try to paint of tea party people.

So they're not scientifically illiterate people with stupid ideas. They're just scientifically literate people with stupid ideas. t.
Waht are all these 'stupid ideas' . Repeal of massively unpopular Obamacar?
Getting a handle on the size of the Government -
you know since we are 17 trillion in debt?

What is not mentioned in Politico is that the Prof also ran correlations on left-right political views and religious views. There's a small negative correlation (r = -0.05, p = 0.03) between right-political views and scientific literacy and a modest negative correlation between (r = -0.26, p < 0.01) religiousity and scientific literacy.
Winners: Non-conservative, non-religious Tea Partiers
Losers: Conservative, religious non-Tea Partiers

Oh really? Which part?
Massively unpopular with Republicans*

Wrong againOh really? Which part? The defense spending which is several times that of the next closest power? .
Coburn has a report coming that will show $85 billion could be cut from the Pentagon over ten years - See more at: Even Defense Spending Can Be Cut | Tea Party PatriotsTea Party Patriots
Nope-exactly as I said.

So they're not scientifically illiterate people with stupid ideas. They're just scientifically literate people with stupid ideas. Definitely a game changer. Happens every day though. Just look at people who think recycling is good for the environment.
Sound like liberal academia.

"You know that line liberals love to lob at the Tea Party: you're stupid. Well, obviously that's not the case, nor has it ever been true. Now, a Yale professor has released some new research showing that the so-called "Tea Party radicals" are actually scientifically literate.
Professor Dan M. Kahan of the psychology department at Yale says he was surprised to discover a positive correlation between science comprehension and members of the Tea Party:
Well, perhaps some of those previous opinions could've been dispelled earlier when the New York Times wrote in 2010 that Tea Partiers are more educated - and financially better off - than the rest of the public

"However, those who identified as part of the tea party movement were actually better versed in science than those who didn’t, Kahan found. The findings met the conventional threshold of statistical significance, the professor said."

I really only have one comment/question. If Liberals are so smart in the head, why do they think and talk so much out their asses?
When people talk about the tea party being stupid, simple context shows that those people are talking about in relation to politics since that is what the tea party is about, politics. Smart people in one area can be flaming idiots in another. Hell, there are phd's who are libertarians, the extreme in educated and stupid together. Tea parties are demonstratably stupid politically, which says exactly jack **** about how much they know about science.

Y'know I could care less about their scientific intelligence, it's their economic, social, and political ignorance that's killing the country.
