The concept wasn't around until the 2000's and their music is considered to be historic and a major influence on the world.

What 'boy band' has ever influenced anything but fashion and make up.

When I was a teenager it was all about The Who and number 10 on the volume dial.
Live at Leeds was the best rock album ever.
Later, I was about southern rock- Alman Brothers, Charlie Daniels, Lynrd Skynrd, but none of it put the best of the Brits in the shade.
