Would 2/3 of Senate Vote To Impeach Trump This Time?

Maybe if small towns across the US didn't get federal money for fleets of armored vehicles the national capital would have had the funding to properly staff and equip their security...

Just because the Super Partisans smell blood does not mean everyone is all in. It would be rash and stupid, especially when Biden is expected to be 25’ed at the first policy stumble.
McConnell and Graham survive by telling the Circus what gets them favorable press.
 
I can see a few more voting to convict (maybe 57-58 votes or so) but I doubt it gets to 2/3
 
Wednesday was a direct attack by the President on the Congress. I don’t know if the Senate get’s to 2/3rds but sure as shit many Senate Republicans will take articles seriously and some will vote to impeach if for no other reason but to show the President he isn’t a ****ing king and can’t tear up the Constitution.

Not everyone needs to be all in. Learn the math on whet is required. Only 20 HOP Senators need defection. My guess is that is very doable.

I can rattle off 10 Republicans right now that would absolutely vote for impeachment. Getting 10 more that places country and principles over party is doable.

The cool thing about the 25th would be the removal of powers while Congress is considering putting him back in. He couldn't issue any pardons! I'm surprised at how much play the 25th is getting. I thought it would never happen. Now I only think it won't happen.
 
This is one time that they need to call the roll.

It’s obvious that Nancy Pelosi can pass articles of Impeachemnt in the house without much difficulty or delay.

The question is whether the Senate will take it up.

They won’t have the opportunity to play the ignore the evidence game they played a year ago.

McConnell can’t block impeachment. The Senate will have to sit.

And if McConnell tries to water this down or block it, it will accrue to his everlasting shame (something that even he is thinking about now).

Let the roll be called. Let the reactionaries and the co conspirators publicly confront and speak to what they have enabled.

Yep like I said. 10 Republicans would get it to 58 or so. It might be doable, but I’m not optimistic.

McConnell can't block this. He can vote against it but can't block it. Color me crazy here but after watching McConnell absolutely blister Trump in his speech Wednesday, it would surprise me more he he didn't vote to impeach. Remember, his wife is so pissed off at Trump she resigned her Cabinet position.

I know I know. Republicans eating their own would seem far fetched. But we are in unchartered waters here. Vote party or democracy is the fundamental question here.

I would like to agree, but I‘ve learned that, when it comes to doing the right or honorable thing, Mitch McConnell is not a guy to be counted on.

None the less, he can’t stop a trial. He can try and drag it out. But he can’t stop it.

In the end, the GOP leadership will have to account for themselves in the most public way possible. Whether by being called on to vote to convict, or to indulge in the self serving spectacle of trying to avoid having to cast that vote.

It's no where near 50%. And the ones that do, believe the lies they've been fed for months. Trump said long before Nov, 3rd, "The only way I can loose is if it's a rigged election" At that time he was setting up the big con to lie to his followers and make money off them. They are stupid in many more ways than they even realize.

If your friends think the Viking horn guy is hilarious, then they can visit him in prison, because that's where he'll be for a while.

They had the money. They just did not have the coordination they needed from the DOD. Trump appointees slow walked their authorization while Trump was gleefully watching it all play out on TV. It was a massive failure at the top of government. The DC mayor has already asked congress to change the law allowing her to call up her own national guard.

All the more reason for statehood.

There is also the possibility that the protest organizers had people inside the capitol police and even in the congress itself. It sounds far fetched. But until it's all been investigated, I am not ruling out anything.
