amazing how quick your opinion will change when the shoe is on the other foot...good for her though, sounds like she has had her eyes opened.

Everyone has the right to change their opinion. The Government has no right to force anyone to buy anything. It then becomes a tax because the government has no role as a retailer. Some portions of all insurance plans should be altered, but to have a government official look at a chart and tell me "well, based on your age you can't have this operation" is just plain wrong. For you pie-in-the-skyer-liberal-Obama-Lovers, send him another few dollars for his campaign. He only has a billion right now.

Four words for you.....

Better DEAD than RED

I have already informed family and friends that I will NOT accept ANY government medical care, regardless of the reason. It's actually written into my living will. If the only means to pay for a procedure or other medical expense is through government funds, I will not take it. Period. I'd rather die, thank you very much.

Yes, I do understand that means after age 65 I will be without any medical insurance.

No. Just sounds like she doesn't actually have any convictions.

It is foolish to have convictions about government policies anyway. You should have convictions about personal freedom, but ultimately such an activity can only occur in a civilization that meets certain material requirements; whatever policies it takes to get to those material requirements, those are the policies you have to pursue. Since the degree of government supervision varies according to the demands of reality, a person's inner notions of what level of supervision is appropriate are irrelevant.

no, sounds like her eyes were opened, and she was able to see why this would be a good thing.

No, it sounds like she suddenly realize that her convictions weren't going to make life easy or simple and so she abandoned them without even the pretense of following them. That's part of why I've got mine in WRITING, and notarized. Now I can't just change my mind on a whim and do the easy thing rather than the Right one.

Could you see if you could get the entire teaparty and ron paul loyalists to sign that pledge with ya...:lamo:lamo

if you wish to die, hey your choice, seems she was not ready, and seen the light of things, that national healthcare has its advantages.

Hopefully someone informs her of all the available grants for breast cancer patients.

Insurance is where you pay into a plan even though there is nothing wrong with you with the understanding that if something does happen, you will then be covered.

Paying nothing and then paying in only a very small percent after you get ill is not insurance nor sustainable.

If you think you're not already getting care that had the government involved, you're fooling yourself. The government does or supports a huge amount of medical research. It supports hospitals and medical schools. It runs or supports programs like transplant and organ donor networks. It regulates drugs.

Better die soon.

False. She simply didn't have all the information. She said so.

Lots of people are like that.

The fed is no more "forcing" you to buy health insurance than your state is "forcing" you to buy auto insurance. Furthermore, the fed isn't selling health insurance because it isn't offering Universal Health Care. The Health Insurance Exchanges (HIEs) will be established at the state-level -- A REPUBLICAN IDEA - not the federal level. Moreover, they won't even be underwriting insurance policies (again, no UHC). So, this "government has no role as a retailer" non-sense is just that...non-sense.

Another misconception in your post above is this "policy by age" crap. Really, where do you folks get your information? Yes, under the healthcare reform law insurance policies will be made more "standardized" under Bronze, Silver and Gold essential benefit thresholds, but there's no age requirement per policy, i.e., "you can only be 65 before you can take out this policy over that one". Pure foolishness!

Sounds to me like you're forfeiting your Medicare benefits. I'll take 'em! Just will your Social Security over to the "Objective Voice Future Health Care Retirement Fund". I accept all donations from U.S. citizens who are foolish enough to go without their PAID health insurance benefits after they retire.

Sorry, I don't hang around with those idiots.

If she's not ready to die, then was she really living to begin with? I'm ready to die at any time.

The government is not directly paying for the procedures and medication I take. That's what I'm talking about. Trust me, I'd love to get the government out of the health care industry entirely.

False. She simply didn't have all the information. She said so.

Interesting that with no information she makes the right decision, but with the information she makes the wrong one. My guess is the information that really changed her mind was her expected lifespan.

Yes I will be forfeiting both my medicare and SS benefits when it comes to that time. If I were going to donate them they wouldn't be to you, Voice.

if only this idea was applied equally by Conservatives. they never bring up the Militia Act of 1792, which required all white-men over 18 to buy a gun.

ironic huh?

A century before all male citizens of the Massachusetts Bay Colony were REQUIRED BY LAW to bring their firearms to church with them on Sunday mornings. Interestingly enough, the statute has never been nullified.

Sure, that's what you're talking about, but it doesn't change anything. The government pays for part of your health care.

Trust me, I'd love to get the government out of the health care industry entirely.

But you still accept its help every time you go to the doctor, even if its not listed on your bill.

Interestingly, you didn't get the point.
