ST. LOUIS (CNN) -- A woman appears to have accidentally fatally shot herself in the head with a gun bought to prepare for possible Ferguson-related unrest, according to sources briefed on the police investigation.

The shooting occurred Friday night in downtown St. Louis, the city's Metropolitan Police Department said, in an area dominated by vacant lots beside a football stadium.

The female victim, identified in a police report as Becca Campbell, 26, was a passenger in a car involved in an auto accident. Her 33-year-old boyfriend was driving, the sources told CNN.

This woman is a victim of the NRA as much as of her own mistake. She believed the NRA's propaganda. She thought the gun was her friend and never would hurt her.

Please show me where the NRA stated that the gun is a friend, a toy, or would never hurt the user. A gun is a weapon and a serious one. Anyone who isn't ready for that responsibility shouldn't be owning a gun.

From the article:
He told investigators that as they drove late Friday night, the victim waved a gun, jokingly saying the couple were ready for Ferguson, the sources said.

He ducked to get out of the way of the gun and accidentally rear-ended another car. He said the accident caused the gun to go off and she was struck by a bullet in the head, the sources said.

So they were driving in a car and she was waving the gun out the window, treating it as a toy, and this is the consequence. I'd say this is 100% her fault and she's certainly a candidate for a Darwin Award.

To the OP: Is this idiocy really your best argument for gun control? This idiot just removed herself from the gene pool and now we as a human race are just a little better off.

So if her husband accidently dropped a hammer on her from up on a ladder, is she a victim of Home Depot?

Several a lady in Muncie Indiana shot a wart off her foot, oh nad her foot. Shall we charge the NRA with practicing podiatry?

:doh

Really? Geeze, even when trying to spin something into a narrative that doesn't exist, radical ProgLibs still can't understand the concept of personal responsibility.

She was a young woman taken before her time. Doubtless, her absence will be sorely missed by her family and friends.

The great tragedy in this is the chain of events which brought her to her end. She believed NRA propaganda. She thought the gun would protect her.

The only tragedy here was stupidity.

Guns will not, can not, and shall not be banned. I can give a **** if stupid people die in stupid ways.

Guns aren't the only things that can make one accidentally commit suicide through stupidity. Are we just going to start banning cars and kitchen knives or something?

Yes it is all the gun's fault. Not the woman's fault at all. I mean according to her boyfriend:

He told investigators that as they drove late Friday night, the victim waved a gun, jokingly saying the couple were ready for Ferguson, the sources said.

Yes, waving a gun around and joking around is what proper firearm safety is all about

It MUST be the NRA's fault, I mean, it's a gun right?

If Home Deport made her believe the hammer never would hurt her, yes.

So the NRA said that waving the gun around and joking with it was proper firearm safety? Can you please show us on the NRA site where it shows that proper safety method for handling a firearm for us please?

Oh what a bunch of horse ****.

What if she crashed and her seat belts didnt save her? Did she believe the Ford propaganda?

Did she talk to her gun? Did she name it? :doh

I'd say the NRA would have recommended one of their gun safety courses.

The NRA has nothing to do with this. A gun is still an inanimate object. You might as well blame the Cooking Channel for people using forks so often they slowly kill themselves from obesity.

...Damnit, think of the kids. Ban the forks!

Let us know if you ever become prepared to discuss things in terms of personal responsibility for one's actions over the typical lazy liberalism nanny state bubble wrap our society thinking.

This was a horrible accident, nothing more.

Sorry, but you're not going to get much support from people around here that this was somehow the NRA's fault. This idiot played with a gun like it was a toy and thank god the bullet ended up in her own skull and not someone else's.

If Home Deport made her believe the hammer never would hurt her, yes.

So you're either lazy, dishonest, or can't read. I asked for a source showing that the NRA claimed that a gun could never hurt the owner. Should be easy right?

Man...there sure have been a lot of people killed by the United Auto Workers. Imagine believing the hype you need a car for transportation, then ending up dying because of it. over 300,000 people in this country have been murdered in the last 10 years at hands of their cars, and unions hold the total responsibility. Unions are horrible evil and despicable, promoting such a dangerous tool all for their own profit. And of course...by association...democrats as the largest recipient of union campaign contributions are just as guilty. They both are covered from head to toe in their blood for profit orgy.

You're a victim of MSNBC's propaganda. The NRA does not preach that gun could never hurt you. In fact it is precisely because a gun most certainly CAN and WILL hurt you if you don't respect its power that they DO preach the four rules of firearm safety, a minimum of two of which she had to have violated in order for this tragedy to take place. The sad fact you will never be able to recognize through because of your ideology and hate is that if she HAD listened to the NRA she would be alive today.

For your information, here are the four rules of firearm safety for you to ignore too.

  1. Always assume a firearm is loaded at all times and treat it as such.
  2. Always keep a firearm pointed in a safe direction.
  3. Keep your finger off the trigger until you are ready to fire.
  4. Know your target and what is beyond it.

Good thing for BMW that she didn't take her ultimate driving machine out and kill herself on the freeway.

The same idiotic drivel can be said about anyone who dies in a car wreck, or a plane crash, or any one of a million things that lead to accidental death.

Can you link the propaganda put out by the NRA that says a gun can't hurt you?

Could you explain where the NRA were positioned at the time of the accident? In the boy-friends car, the other vehicle? The woman's handbag? The boy-friends pants? In the gun somewhere nobody knows but definitely there right along side the little devil that makes people do crazy things?

Can you quote this all powerful NRA propaganda and explain why it is more powerful than gun grabbers incessant screeches that guns will kill you?

And there you go. She was going to walk around the streets with a loaded gun: sure she was.
