Wisconsin governor authorizes dispatch of National Guard ahead of Rittenhouse verdict
(WFRV) – Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers has authorized approximately 500 Wisconsin Army National Guard troops to report to Kenosha ahead of a verdict in the trial of Kyle Rittenhouse.

The troops will report for State Active Duty as a way to ensure public safety along with local law enforcement, the governor’s office said in a press release issued Friday.

The release did not reference the Rittenhouse trial, aside from Gov. Ever’s acknowledgement that people might be assembling to “exercise their First Amendment rights” in the coming days.

So here's my question: Why? Because the governor knows the answer: The left riot, loot, destroy, and burn when things don't go their way.

We've come to expect it, and as a result, the National Guard needs to be deployed.

How long do we tolerate divisive and destructive behavior? When do we come together and decide once and for all that there is line between protesting and rioting, and rioting will not be tolerated? When will we send the message that as a society we will work through all of our problems together, but we will not bow to threats, violence, and destruction of our communities.

It's time to take a stand. You can support protests or you can support chaos. There is no middle ground.

I support protests, drum circles, singing and chanting slogans, signs, picket lines, speeches, megaphones, marching with a permit, filling the public square, work strikes, job walk-offs, etc, etc.

I will never support or condone criminal activities, assault on police, or destruction of property.

Kinda hilarious watching the people supporting a wannabe vigilante pretend to oppose “chaos”.

Personally I think he's guilty of several things, but not murder. I also believe the guy that came at him with the gun and got shot is guilty of a couple crimes too. But this thread is not about the trial, it's about the response to an acquittal.

Let me repeat that...

This thread is not about the trial, it's about the response to an acquittal.

The governor is covering his ass. Hardly a surprise, and hardly anything new.

I see a situation where EVERYONE riots....

If he is convicted of anything, there will be some on the right screaming in outrage. If he isn't convicted of murder, some on the left are gonna be outraged.

I think he is defending against the stupid on both sides of the equation.

That's fine. My questions concern the riots/looting/destruction itself, not who is doing the rioting. I'm wondering how far do we as a society allow this to continue without consequences for the perpetrators. Are we going to allow communities to be destroyed or taken over?

People tend to do stupid shit when they feel like they have been done a disservice, be they right or wrong that assumption.

There were nearly 14000 charges brought as a result of last summers riots, so I'm not sure where you get the idea that nothing was being done about them. As is with an situation where large scale stupidity takes over, you can't arrest everyone. That doesn't mean best efforts weren't made.

Wait a minute..... I thought there were thousand of Kyle' who will be out defending the community... What's wrong, cold feet?

Whomever doesn’t get the verdict they wanted Is the ones who will protest and possibly riot, and it’s assholes who are do the rioting.

Until we hold everyone to a single standard the honest answer is we only wish to hold the other side accountable in many cases. We will see if there is any destruction after the verdict and by whom soon enough I suspect.

Trumpist who loved the 1/6 insurrection pre-emptively decries violence. Yeah, ok.

I have no idea. I believe citizen vigilantes are idiots. I wish they'd stay home and let the left destroy whatever they want.

I'm more about hanging this stinking dead albatross on every liberal who condones it.

I think he perhaps should be convicted of carrying a firearm underage, or whatever applicable verdict there is for that, but he used it only in self defense.

Well, as they always ask....

But for his ownership of said firearm, would he have even been in a position to have to defend himself?

no one "loved" the 1/6 riots, but some of us believe it was a far cry from an insurrection.

that is called an opinion. you are allowed to have those in a free country.

This is what a smear looks like. It's a form of slaughter the source; a logical fallacy.

It's also a lie about me, a personal attack, as a supporter of a debunked Fake News story (insurrection).

It's this posters only line of attack in any debate, "loved 1/6" and "pwnd the libtards" are his two battle cries. I meant cry-screaming.

Better to be prepared for the worst as opposed to not prepared for anything.

That and better to have an official authority prepared and ready, rather than to leave it to vigilantes to intervene.

Covering his ass? From what or whom?

From criticism. If something happens, the guardsmen are already there and he can talk about how prepared he was. If nothing happens, no big deal.

No, that's called denial... What was the goal of entering the capitol and the house and senate chambers?

So here's my question: Why? Because the governor knows the answer: The left riot, loot, destroy, and burn when things don't go their way.
And why do you automatically assume the governor is preparing for 'the left' who will destroy when things don't go their way? Was that the case on Jan 6th?
I will never support or condone criminal activities, assault on police, or destruction of property.
So glad to hear you did not support what happened on Jan 6th. Wish more here could agree.

And many areas were left to be taken over.

That fact that you can only say "the 6th", a 4 hr one time event, kinda proves the point, doesn't it? For the left we can point to night after night and city after city.
