Now i really hope he doesn't. A Trump reelection will certainly say a lot about America.

Probably, because the US economy is in decent shape and with a divided congress not much is going to get done no matter who the next POTUS is. The problem faced by the DNC is that none of their (front running) POTUS candidates is likely going to be very appealing to independent voters.

That depends on who the Democrats nominate. If they nominate a candidate attractive to independents, the Democrats will win in a landslide. If not, another 2016 is certainly possible. Hillary lost because independents disliked her more than they disliked Trump. 70% of independents had an unfavorable view of Hillary. Not that they liked Trump, they didn't. 57% of independents disliked him and didn't want him to become president. This led to 12% of all independents voting against both Trump and Clinton, some 9 million voters. Question 10 and 11.

This is why I call 2016 the anti election. Folks voting for the candidate they least wanted to lose, not win, but least wanted to lose. 2020 revolves around who the democrats choose to take on Trump. How independents view their candidate vs. Trump. Independents now make up approximately 40% of the electorate, neither party can win without getting support from independents. 40% of independents had a favorable view of Trump in 2016, this number really hasn't changed among independents 3 years into this presidency, 41% of independents view him favorably today. Question 48A.

If the democrats want to win, they'll nominate a candidate that is seen more favorable, that is liked more than Trump is by the independent voter. If they do, they win. If the democrats don't, if they nominate another candidate disliked as much or more than Trump, they lose. The ball is in the Democrats hands for 2020, who they hand that ball to will determine the outcome.

I have to say ‘No’, because the alternative is unthinkable and is basically the death of America.

Until a Democrat is selected, we can't know who the establishment insiders want, so how can any of us know who the next president will be?

Even then it may take a while for them to decide as in the last election as example. They didn't know they wanted Donald Trump until Hilary Clinton started ranting about going to war against Russia to divert from the massive quid pro quo she did for Russia in exchange for over $100,000,000 from Russia. When the head of Joint Chiefs of Staff swore before Congress under oath that what Hilary Clinton was promising is "war with Russia" (exact words) and that the US military "is not prepared" to go to war with Russia, I knew Donald Trump would be the next president.

As Democrat Schumer explained, Trump has not done everything the intelligence agencies have ordered him to do (reason for impeachment and trial), so it could be impossible for him to win. However, Schiff just vowed if Democrats can retake the White House we are going attack Russia.

Since only the insane want a hot war with Russia - rather than endless trillions of more dollars on the perpetual Cold War against the extinct USSR - it is hard to figure it out at this point. A President who won't follow orders or nuclear war holocaust? Probably it depends whether they believe the Democrats call for going to war against Russia.

Who do you think they will pick for our next president?

It's quite possible that he is reelected. He's running on a very strong economy right now. I don't know if he will, I think that the Dems still have a leg up in the race, and it's going to come down to who they pick and how they play the election. I still think it's the Democrats to lose.

Trump has a good chance to win reelection. His base has stayed loyal, the economy is good, and his Dem opponents are all clowns.

I believe that LBJ was the last inside the beltway establishment democrat to win the Presidency. Perhaps there is a clue in there somewhere as to what America looks for these days.

It would mean far too many Americans like to whine about the government but are too lazy to participate in determining who is representing the American People.

Voted yes because it is likely that it will happen, but not what I would like to see happen.

Several things are going on.

The economy is going well enough that flipping the President means amplifying secondary issues, not very likely.

Political polarization and vilification has created an environment where Articles of Impeachment from the House will result in probable nothing from the Senate, and it will turn those Articles of Impeachment into a badge of honor in further dividing the country.

The current lot of hopefuls is working very hard to ensure moderates are muted in favor of the furthest left game for the primaries coming up, and given the tone so far it is looking like Independents have no one to vote for.

It is shaping up to be another awkward election where we have moderate turnout, Trump wins by EC and loses the popular vote to whoever (probably Sanders or Biden at this point) resulting in a mess for the next 4 years.

Senate and House probably stay as is in terms of who controls those chambers, giving Trump the chance to make the Supreme Court even further right.

I hope that the impeached peach is voted out. Enough is enough.

It's hard to say because there's a lot of static so long as Primaries are ongoing. Primaries always make the non-incumbent party look hopelessly divided. If Democrats remain divided after the Primaries, then sure, he get re-elected. If Democrat unite behind the nominee then he doesn't, because to no degree in recent history have left-of-center voters been so terrified of a Republican getting a second term, and so motivated to do something about it.

Voter suppression, voter purges, limiting voting locations and times along with the electoral college gives Trump quite an advantage.

Like a few have said it depends on who the dems nominate. I don't think Warren or Sanders appeal much to the middle. There are a lot of people who hate Trump and are scared of socialism. It would be bad to ask the independents to vote based on fear or hate. No telling which way that would go.

we already chose the Cold War 2.0 path.
More NATO expansion /more "beefing up NATO" ( like the European Reassurance Initiative Obama started) /and of course more billions for our proxy war with Russia thru Kyiv.
Russiaphobia stalks our minds

No, Trump will not be re-elected. More information concerning Trump's willful disregard of the law will come out weekly if not daily. Trump's progressive malignant narcissism will become so obvious that his instability will be undeniable.

Trump has a good chance to win reelection. His base has stayed loyal, the economy is good, and his Dem opponents are all clowns.

With the Democrats not putting forth a viable candidate, and third party looking dim, it's not just his base that will painfully end up voting for Trump.

I actually wish the Democrats did have a decent offering. While I'm enjoying the robust economy, I would much rather have a POTUS that doesn't make me flinch when he gets on Twitter.

I think the problem is that the DNC has simply moved too far left-of-center, even Obama has noted this problem.

Probably. A significant amount of Americans have no interest in reality or facts. Propaganda is Putin's forte.

Big Trump supporter here ( like Trump said you might not like me but you have to vote for me).

who do the Dems have ? Biden? sanders? Warren? the only moderate is Klobuchar -
who could get the fickle suburban women's vote.

I can only hope Americans are sane enough to look past his tweets to his record -
which is stellar
