I tend to think the stuff they call "non-essential" is more like "less-essential".I've been right here in the USA except when I was either stationed overseas or traveling.
I reiterate, the GOVERNMENT does not shut down.
No Senators go home without pay. No Representatives do. The President and his Staff get paid. All the Supremes get paid. Military personnel get paid, FBI, CIA, NSA, etc., etc., etc.,...
As long as the people who (allegedly) represent us and those other "essential services" get paid, as far as they are concerned the government is still in business.
Which makes me wonder...WHY are we paying for non-essential services at all???![]()
Edit: By which I mean: "important, but not so important well lose lots of money, materials, work already accomplished, or people (in that order of importance) if we don't fund it for a bit".
