Will Task Force 250 Celebrate America? (1 Viewer)

Come on!! I am seriously shaking my head here. The White House is putting out "reasons" for having this parade and you buy it hook, line and sinker??
AND on top of that you quote Fox News? You don't for one minute consider which way Fox is going to lean on this?

Look, I know we ALL have our partisan views. Some of us detest everything Trump, some idolize Trump to the point of repeating his propaganda without even considering what they are repeating.

This whole idea is just stupid and a waste of taxpayer's money. This IS a vanity project, full stop, end of story. BUT because Fox quoted directly from the White House (yes, I read the story in the link you provided) then anything the White House says, like..................

............ you automatically believed the White House line and regurgitated it here. I am simply stunned that there are people out there that are THIS naive. But it is what it is I suppose.
From my post #16: "Rather than North Korea, or France on a fête nationale, the proposed events remind me of Roman triumphs and circuses. They're likely to be selectively partisan and serve to distract attention."

Leap to the wrong conclusion much? Don't care for Fox News as a source? Oh, well. The question includes much more than the value of a military parade. The Task Force 250 executive order proposes a slew of yet undeclared events. That's why I put it in a separate thread from Army plans for a potential parade on Trump’s birthday call for 6,600 soldiers, AP learns. Yet, people seem not to see beyond the military parade already being discussed elsewhere on DP.

Are you sure? I am not convinced the opening commentary was sarcasm.
Not sure. Trumpism is so damned cult crazy that these days satire and sincerity are almost impossible to determine without qualifiers.

The Celebrating America’s 250th Birthday Executive Order is a short read which declares "Task Force 250 shall coordinate with the executive departments and agencies (agencies) to plan, organize, and execute an extraordinary celebration of the 250th Anniversary of American Independence and shall coordinate agencies’ communications with the United States Semiquincentennial Commission."

Included also are two other items:

Sec. 3. National Garden of American Heroes. (a) Executive Order 13934 of July 3, 2020 (Building and Rebuilding Monuments to American Heroes) and Executive Order 13978 of January 18, 2021 (Building the National Garden of American Heroes) are reinstated as they were prior to issuance of Executive Order 14029 of May 14, 2021.

Sec. 4. Protecting America’s Monuments from Vandalism. Executive Order 13933 of June 26, 2020 (Protecting American Monuments, Memorials, and Statues and Combatting Recent Criminal Violence) is hereby reinstated as it was prior to the issuance of Executive Order 14029 of May 14, 2021.

Turns out Congress set up "The United States Semiquincentennial Commission, established in July 2016, assumes the task of facilitating nationwide plans to observe the 250th anniversary of the United States. Leading up to the commemoration, this body will play a central role in shaping the anniversary narrative on a national level. Members of the group will solicit ideas about how to mark the anniversary, meet within the hallowed walls of Philadelphia’s Independence Hall to develop a plan, submit recommendations for the consideration of the President and Congress, and assist with the execution of the approved itinerary."

I provided the background and asked the question, "So, will Task Force 250 events renew a love of American history, showcase the beauty of our country, and ignite a spirit of adventure and innovation that will raise our nation to new heights over the next 250 years?" Too tough for some to debate the social, cultural and political implications?

That question is answered with a simple "no."

Fair objection. Considering there is only one event, the Army's founding celebration, has any details attached to it.

The Task Force 250 website does provide some partisan flavor by partnering with Hillsdale College to produce a video series (two currently online) depicting " story of American Independence." Hillsdale College offerings seem to have a reputation for a moderate to strong bias toward conservative causes.
I would personally say that Hillsdale College has a very strong right bias, not necessarily conservative.

One time decades ago, I apparently signed up for a newsletter from them, and even though I have since moved, they still send it.

It's almost invariably some kind of carefully written bullshit argument supporting the bullshit Trump is doing.

For some, it will.

Others...well, they'll continue to do this...

Please show where Trump has the slightest grasp of US history.

He said the troops defended airports in the civil war.
I know pretty much bugger all about the US civil war and even if know the airports were defended by robot Ninjas.
