Do you work in the construction trades?

Do you sell stuff to people who work in construction? Houses, cars, groceries, guns, dental work, legal services, etc, etc?

Do you hate crossing the bridge on the interstate? Hit potholes every now and then? Wish there was a freeway that get all the traffic out of your neighborhood?

No - I work in the construction trades, but not on government contracts. The corporate tax increases (and likely tariffs to make them work) would result in price increases.

Do you ever ask a question that isn't biased and partisan? How about this question, "Do you support paying more for everything to fund Biden's infrastructure plan"?

it won't help non-union construction workers, either.

You mean all the illegals flooding across the southern border?

exactly. our little brown brothers need jobs, too. why you so selfish?

overall actually investing in infrastructure helps the country period, and we shouldn't be so far behind on this issue.

now, will it be done properly? will too many people left and right grease wheels there and fill pockets here etc etc . . im sure because its a problem we have here in america and THATS what needs to be monitored and fixed. But infrastructure needs done and as a country, we need to be better.

Conservatives whine about foreign aid money, ranting that we need to spend money in our own country. Then someone proposes exactly that, and they are predictably against it...go figure

None of this garbage will ever get built. Builders will be bogged down in EPA approvals and processes for years

NO, I live in Canada, we already have great infrastructure!

Do you work in a right to work state. I know in Florida and Georgia DOT contracts are let to non-union contractors. Now they may be subject to Davis Bacon wage scales which is good for the workers

Here in the Midwest all commercial construction is done by union labor. ( residential, new homes) is done by non union. There won't be any infrastructure contracts let out to non union labor.

I'm all for some infrastructure projects, but most of them will be pork. We have stretches of perfectly good highway re-paved over again just to keep union crews busy. Bridges we didn't need, and roads to nowhere.

The one infrastructure project that could be done correctly, honestly, one that would even pay for itself, and that is the most needed infrastructure project of all, is a new electrical grid. Almost 40% of generated electric power is now lost in transmission. That could be cut by two thirds with an up-dated power grid. And with more and more electric commercial fleets on the way, and more electric cars parked in driveways, and with a huge need for new charging stations, building a new power grid makes sense. Parts of the current grid are almost 100 years old. It cannot handle what's coming. And on a technical project of this type, using more highly trained union labor makes sense.
How we pay for this considering the debt we already have is anyone's guess. Maybe China could make us a loan?

Well join the union. I have been in management of commercial construction my entire career. I have always had good luck with union labor. They are one of the only places that have a true training program for the trades. When you call the hall and ask for a journeyman plumber or electrician they know their job and have the tools to.perform the work.

Here in Florida we have a lot of impostors that claim to know their trade. You have to wade through them to find the good ones.

Reality is wages have not gone up like they should so few people want the jobs. Union scale attracts better candidates.

If it's getting out there, I'm gonna try to carve off as big a piece as I possibly can.

So it's as easy as just "joining the union"? What planet do you live on? To get into the union you have to know somebody. It's strictly nepotism. Only if no union member has somebody to recommend is it ever opened to applicants with no inside connections. There are many, many young construction workers who would LOVE the wages and benefits the union workers get. But they don't know someone. they're not related to someone. And to get union training an applicant has to be hired and then sponsored by a union construction company. That's how training is paid for. BTW; becoming a cop or firefighter is much the same process; you better know somebody.

Well with lots more projects under construction they will need more workers. Might open some doors.

Reality is persistence pays off.

Wasn't this supposed to be fixed during "shovel ready"?

You would have to talk to Mitch about that

Mitch will do everything he can to stop Biden. If the filibuster stays in place as it is those democrats might as well pack their bags and go home

I hate so say it but government spending is so engaged to corruption, that very few average Americans benefit. They just pay and are forced to tolerate with the inconvenience. Thanks!!

Of course Mitch will - less than 25% of the spending in these “packages” are for actual infrastructure.

Any money pulled from the 1% of the elites is good for all of us.
