Why you should vote for Gary Johnson

Should government fund infrastructure like bridges, roads, etc.

John McAfee - The government should be at the maximum be at the minimum on this
Darryl Perry - He believes the businesses should pay for them voluntarily
Gary Johnson - Believes that infrastructure should be privatized and government shouldn't be involved, user fees
Austin Peterson - He says roads aren't necessary, we'll all have jet packs. (He really said that)
Dr. Marc Feldman - Make dollar for dollar tax credits for donating to charities who will build the roads

If the intent is to draw in liberal voters, Weld is palatable. I think some of his positions will turn off conservative libertarians. Weld is more a centrist than a Libertarian in my eyes. A progressive republican if you will. Im just grateful he didnt pick a hemp shirt wearing dreadlocked anarchist hippie.

Johnson and Weld would both dominate a debate stage with Trump or Clinton.
 

I found the comments on this article to be similar to the in-fighting we've seen from both major parties, especially in regards to the "purity" test.

I agree with you that a vote for Johnson is not a vote for Clinton nor Trump, since Johnson voters would vote for neither. Just as Nader voters would not have voted for Bush or Gore. Probably not so much for Perot though, who surely took more votes from Bush-41, as TR did from Taft.

Johnson will not win, nor will he even get a single electoral college vote. He will not get more than 1-4% of the general vote.


Voting Johnson will have ZERO EFFECT on the way your nation is governed. You might as well not bother to vote at all.



Incidentally you're not "sending a message" either... until you can take electoral votes away from one or the other main party you will be ignored.

I am probably going to vote LP and that would be the reason why- I'd rather have Shrillary than Trump in the WH.
 
I saw a report Maddow did on Weld and she pointed out that as socially liberal, fiscal conservative governor in Massachusetts, he won all but 6 voting districts in the state during his reelection. Thats pretty crazy and speaks to his ability to appeal to conservative and liberal constituents alike.
 
Assuming that Johnson/Weld win the LP convention, they'd be smart to put out a list of cabinet picks soon also.
They have the added advantage of a 6-week head-start on the RNC and DNC conventions.

The LP goal is to POLL at least 15% to make the debate stage with the big parties.
That would certainly change the current calculus of what the debates will be like.
Reactions from both big parties will also be interesting.

As a side-note, I've long considered Chief Justice Roberts and Justice Kennedy to be the beginning of a 3rd wing on the USSC--Libertarian if you will.
Johnson/Weld could put forth a few names for the USSC .

Interesting, you want Hillary in the White House but don't want to vote for her. That speaks volumes.
 

Wasting your vote is voting for Trump or Clinton. But that is just my opinion and no way should I be telling you how to vote as that is your right. Myself am fed up picking the less of two losers.

As expected Gary Johnson got the nomination but on the second ballot. Bill Weld, got the Vice Presidential nomination.

It is not my place to dictate to anyone's conscience; but OTOH I gotta express my opinion.

I didnt say I wanted her in the WH, I said I didnt want Trump in it. You need to brush up on your reading comprehension.

Yes. You are willing to let Clinton back in because you hate Trump so much but you don't have the commitment to actually vote for her. No, I understand completely. Why not just go ahead and put a Hillary sticker on your car?

If Trump can't get the votes he doesn't deserve to win and he clearly hasn't earned PoS's vote. As a matter of he hasn't earned mine either.

You are right. If he doesn't get the votes, he doesn't deserve to win. Just keep in mind, that if you decide not to vote for him, then you have decided that you are willing to let Hillary R Clinton appoint between 2 and 4 Supreme Court Justices. I can only imagine how much damage that can do to our country. The Republican Party chose Trump as our candidate. Republicans now have a choice in November.
 

Just because a bunch of other people have chosen to jump off of a bridge doesnt mean that I am willing to do so as well..

My issues with Hillary are mainly political, my issues with Trump also come from a moral standpoint. Hillary might be wrong for this country but Trump is probably worse and I dont care to be a part of a party that would nominate either of those candidates. I never really had a home in the GOP as the moderates call me a religious fanatic and the far right tea party calls my views on economic policy socialism. Good riddance.
 

Me too. I am done supporting the federal system, and thats what voting does. It legitimizes the process and the result. I like Gary Johnson but he does not have the ability to convince D or R to support libertarianism, so its pointless to elect him. Just like its pointless to keep trying to get along with liberals or conservatives.
 

Less damage than Trump can do given we have no idea what he actually believes or what guides his actions. You thinking you have to vote for one or the other evil is what puts us in this position. Enough people not voting for them will get us out of it.
 

Great, so you are willing to accept Hillary's replacements for Supreme Court Justices. I can only imagine how long it will take to fix.
 

Last third party to get an electoral vote was 1968. If Hillary becomes President and nominates far left justices, it's on you. Own it.

Because Trumps will be any better? He thinks his extreme pro-abortion sister would make a good supreme court justice.

Im not willing to accept either, Im voting for the most electable alternative however ever slim those chances might be.
