Why would big CEOs be democrats?

Talk about inequality, consider the Federal taxes that are stacked on top of the local, state and perhaps tariffs paid by all. The lowest part of the population essentially escapes the bite of the Feds and could escape state taxes. The Wealthy can't escape any of that.

Cry me a river.

Solve simple poverty so they can pay their fair share.

Alright, how about Regan? Before he was President he was a very successful actor and no doubt very wealthy.

What are you talking about?

What I was trying to convey is that if you are in California or New York today, there is only one way to get the government help you want. You have to give to the Democrats. They will, in turn, give you some tax payer money. That's how it works in those states.

As for Reagan, when he was in California it was not nearly as liberal as it is today. But I don't understand what parallel you are trying to draw.

Sure you could, if you put that much faith in online reviews. I don't.

Couldn't I just ask my friends which barber they go to and like? Why does the state need to be involved?

NO - if I wanted to say OWN I would have used that specific word. The fact is hoarding gold was something common working people did not have the luxury to afford. I see no controversy about this issue except among right leaning libertarians for whom it is something of a tempest in a teapot that nobody else cares about.

So the common folk who had their gold coins forcibly taken from them by the government were made better off how? Now they need 800 fiat dollars for the same twenty dollar gold coin they owned before.

Taxation - it is the price we pay for a civilized society. The only people for whom this is a cause celebre are right wing libertarians and extreme conservatives.

Imagine if the common man could have invested 12% of his income every year for his entire working life.

The Early retirement people invest more than that. And they are not rich all of their lives.

What are Fiat dollars? We must keep in mind the purpose of currency. We all recall it is for the exchange of effort by party A for the effort by B or to purchase a product made by C. The person who has to be happy is the Seller whom you hand your money to. Gold tricks the imagination due to it being a Natural element.

A good test is to get on the phone and call a Gold dealer. Ask what he will sell you an OZ of gold for. Then ask him to quote you what he will buy it for should you sell gold today. You will lose a good percentage due to the lack of use of Gold in our daily lives. I would not invest in Gold at all given the profits one can make elsewhere.

Cry me a river.

How can a person claim to be a lover of the small guy and hate the Rich? Each is a human being. It is like hating a top Tennis star over the winning of Tournaments in my view. A top ranked Movie star can earn millions for merely playing a part. So why isn't he or she hated? Who knows the typical earnings of an Actor? I believe in the $40 per hour range. Brad Pitt tops that by miles. I do not hear Democrats hate Brad Pitt or those in his category.

Why would big CEOs be democrats? There are some big heads of some major corporations that are democratic. The reason I think it would be peculiar for such people to be democrats is because democrats tend to favor the working class people and the underdogs, not the big CEOs. Its silly to belong to a party that doesn't support big corporations and big multi million or multi billion dollar CEOs when you are such a CEO.

This is the way Republicans think. Only vote what is best for you first.....not what is best for the country

Good point. Thanks to FDR, a ten dollar gold coin can no longer be bought with ten paper dollars. So when FDR confiscated the common man's gold, do you think the common man was made better off or worse off?

Lee Iacocca head of Chrysler once upon a time was it Democrat.

I tell you why cuz if you look at the stats historically Democrats fare better with stocks and a lot of other stats

Presidential Data 2016

Turns out that taking care of the little guy helps the big guy -- trickle up economics works trickle-down doesn't

Smart CEOs and execs know this.

Democrats constantly tell people to “vote in their best interest” and then explain the Democrat candidate provides that. [emoji849]

Prove it. That is bs

:lamo Oh, you were serious!!
The only way Democrats are for the common person is as a loyal subject who obeys the wishes of their superiors (Democrats).

You are totally backwards. Democrats care about the common people. Republicans are for rich people and businesses.

I know that's what your trainers beat into your head, but it's not true.

So how do you explain all this?

1. Strongly opposed any kind of government-funded health care system
2. Did everything possible to get rid of an individual health care mandate
3. Decreased and froze the amount of monthly Social Security payments
4. Made getting food stamps nearly impossible for 700,000 poor citizens
5. Lowered taxes for rich people instead of middle class and poor people
6. Banned most abortions without exceptions for rape and incest victims

There are more. This is just getting started. Where is the indisputable proof that I am wrong about everything?

It's blatantly obvious. All you've done is echo tired old liberal clichés and urban legends.

This idea came to me this morning; it's not original to me but I forget who told me about it.

A least one result CEOs of large companies support Dems is because Dems obsession with detailed control helps to stifle market entry and competition. It's well know that regulatory compliance can be a significant part of overhead. For a large company that isn't as onerous as it would be to a small company just starting out struggling to become profitable.

there are several reasons why some big CEOs are democrats.

here are some reasons. An economist-I believe it was Arthur Laffer-I heard at a guest lecture, talked about efficiencies. When you are a billionaire and own a very wealthy corporation, the way you make more money is by entering into beneficial contracts with other big entities. Now it is more efficient for a huge corporation to due business with a large government agency, that has tons of money, than trying to contract with dozens of smaller entities for the same sum total.

secondly, some ultra wealthy CEOs are control freaks. They figure they will be the ones running the government. The bigger the government, the more power they think that they will have then.

The final main point is a bit more esoteric. The right is identified as the side with the holier than thou self righteous bible thumpers. To the bible thumpers-being extremely wealthy means nothing if the billionaire is a "sinner". I know several very wealthy individuals who positively loathe the religious right. And consequently support the democratic party. and it is not merely limited to say gays who obviously have a good reason to despise the bible thumping types. It can include social libertines as well. My youngest brother is a good example. He's an extremely successful architect. Is head of a very prosperous firm. He hates the religious right with a vengeance. His wife has no religious background: her parents were born in communist China. so he votes Democrat even though their tax schemes are not in his interest.

excellent point-it is the same reason some of the uber wealthy support high income taxes or death taxes. If you are worth several billion or even several hundred million-your estate will generate so much income that even with a progressive income tax, assuming you live a normal lifespan, your heirs will continue to see their wealth grow. If you are a very high salaried, frugal professional, a high income tax and a death tax both serve as rather substantial obstacles to you getting any closer to the real fat cats.

I am talking aboout events that happened in the CURRENT DECADE. In fact, #4 and $6 happened THIS YEAR.

Show me the proof what was actually reported all over the country over and over again is a bunch of lies.

I think at some point the uber-rich lose touch with the reality of their wealth. If the government takes some more of it they won't even notice. When you make hundreds of millions and the government wants a few hundred thousand more it's not worth their time to fight.
