... or republicans? My query is about the politics of this. Why not put out an outline of an alternative plan that might replace the ACA? Could their political calculation be that it’s better to have Obamacare around to bemoan til the court decision? Anyone have an idea?

The Trump administration was far too busy writing the laborious details of their big infrastructure plan that he promised in 2016.

Yeah, it's really simple. They can promise lower premiums, the BEST protection for those with pre-existing conditions, full coverage, everyone gets insurance, no mandate, and more, and as long as there is no actual plan, the mouth breathing voting contingent can believe it's possible. The instant a plan is actually produced, we will see they can't do anything they promise.

This crap is really hard. If you cover poor through middle class people with affordable premiums, and extend the best protections ever for someone with high blood pressure, diabetes and a history of cancer, someone else pays for that, so it's taxpayers with subsidies, or the rest of the insured with higher premiums. So will the GOP plan raise taxes? Of course not, and it's not likely other insureds are going to pay higher premiums, so those on the bottom and those with pre-existing conditions are screwed. It's that simple. When a plan is revealed, that will be obvious.

There's nothing easier or more worthless than pointing to the cook in the kitchen and saying, YOUR COOKING SUCKS!!! THIS FOOD IS TERRIBLE!! What's happening here is the GOP are doing that, the cooks are saying, "fine, here's the kitchen, show us what you got big boy" and they're sprinting for the hills because they're worthless on the subject.

Because the basic economics of covering pre existing conditions is that if you don’t have a structure to protect it like the ACA, yet still ‘protect’ pre existing conditions, you’ll basically price the people who have preexisting conditions out of the market (without massive subsidies).

That would take too much time away from infighting with the Dems and endless campaigning.

Not an idea, but a viewpoint. It seems to be a standard MO for DJT; make a promise about something that will be the best (this time it's healthcare) but never follow through. If there were a plan it would be in full view for all to decide upon; this happened a few times when the GOP actually did come up with a plan - but they all failed. My thoughts are that there simply is no plan; he's strictly playing politics.

This isn’t a Trump thing.

It’s a GOP thing.

Im afraid that in a few months, people will look at all the crap that’s been happening and blameit all on Trump.

It’s not just him....it’s the entire party.

What do you mean? They've been showing us their replacement plan for ten years. It consists of repeal the aca, period. All the rest is lies they are telling their base, they have no plan.

There is none. He never had one. He lied, and then he came out and said he never knew it was so complicated. He is a moron.

The only reason a major political party would have no position on an issue that's consistently a top three concern for voters is that saying something would be far more damaging than saying nothing. The last time they opened their mouths and shared their thoughts on health care, a blue wave took out their House majority by the largest midterm vote margin ever.

Now they're stuck pushing their unpopular agenda to eliminate pre-existing condition protections in the courts, while being forced to lie on the campaign trail and pretend that's not what they're doing.
