Why Isn?t the U.S. more aggressive in defending its embassies?

Because that would be an act of war. You would be literally attack another nations sovereign territory.

Our "sovereign territory" is being invaded, which is an act of war.

I agree. Tear gas and flash noise bombs should be used while the mob/gang/Iranian operatives are trying to get past the fence and gate. The level should be intensified and rubber bullets added as they are crossing the fence. However, if they reach the point of trying to break in any building or otherwise attacking it, it's live ammo M16 and M40A5 time. If that isn't sufficient, it's time to add grenades and automatic fire.

If there are more coming and a mob growing, the President should notify Iraq that everyone must evacuate the area with 15 minutes to a distant at least a half a mile away, because everything including down to basements will be leveled for 4 blocks in every direction, and that a large armed force will be arriving at our US territory embassy.

This is an invasion of the United States. Any action by the Iraqi military, police or government to hinder our taking any and all steps to defend the invasion of the United States is an act of war. Whether Iraq wants war or not then would be Iraq's decision. If it's war, then it's war.

If Iranian forces are involved, it is a direct act of war by Iran - specifically invading the United States.

M-16? Buddy you be in the wrong era...

Every night, the news declaring "Hostage Crisis - Day 19." Then "Hostage Crisis - Day 56." "Hostage Crisis - Day 172." "Hostage Crisis - Day258." "Hostage Crisis - Day 311." Hostage Crisis - Day 408..." cost Jimmy Carter his re-election.

President Trump is on trial over how he acts to this situation.

The US did that also which prompted the US embassy to get overran.

More likely it is the large scale withdrawing of our troops combined with fairly strict restraints on our troops before using their weapons that prompted the US embassy to be overran.

This is the reason why the US embassy was overrun..

U.S. airstrikes on Iranian-backed militia draw condemnation, retaliation threats in Iraq

Tensions soared between Washington and Baghdad on Monday as officials traded accusations over U.S. airstrikes against an Iranian-backed militia based in Iraq and Syria.

The Iraqi government condemned the U.S. attacks Sunday as a violation of the country's sovereignty and said it would review its relationship with the United States. U.S. officials said the Iraqis had failed to protect American troops and diplomats, and they characterized the strikes as "defensive" in nature.

"We warned the Iraqi government, many times, to carry out their responsibility to protect us as their invited guests," said a senior State Department official briefing reporters. "The U.S. military is there on the invitation of the Iraqi government, and the U.S. diplomatic presence is there under an agreement with the Iraqi government. It is their responsibility to protect us, and they have not taken appropriate steps to do so."

U.S. officials said the strikes were intended to deter rocket attacks such as the one targeting a military base in Kirkuk on Friday that killed an American defense contractor and injured four U.S. troops, the first U.S. casualties in an intensifying series of assaults.

“This was a defensive action designed to protect American forces and American citizens in Iraq, and it was aimed also at deterring Iran,” Secretary of State Mike Pompeo told Fox News. “This was an Iranian-backed rogue militia acting to deny the Iraqi people their basic sovereignty.”

Oblivious Trump Administration appears not to get it. The "whoops" in all of this is there is something going on between Iraqi leaders and the US. Trump can go on and on and on about Iran all they want to, the protestors are in Iraq, mainly Iraqis that Iraqi officials failed to keep from the Embassy. I am sure THAT will be swept under some carpet as it just does not fit the Trump narrative.

...That when one of our embassy's is attacked, anything within 100 meters of them are considered legitimate targets for U.S. airstrikes whether civilian or not.

so murder a bunch of kids who are kicking a soccer ball?

A great solution, if you are interested in driving people away from our side and into the arms of people Trump opposes.

Trump's policy toward Iran bears a great deal of responsibility for this.

You he is not sending Iran aircraft full of billions of dollars in cash so Iran can finance their overrunning the ME and killing Americans?

Yes, he is not following President Obama's actions as an Iranian operative and financier.

It was Iran's money and if you think we are in better shape in the ME since Trump ripped up the JCPOA you are dreaming. We are not. ISIS no longer controls territory in Syria. But that is the only thing that has improved and we sold the ally most responsible for that down the river. THAT one is going to stick to us like glue and is going to hurt.

Trump literally does not know what to do with this mess much of it of his own making and it shows.
