The nation has been eagerly awaiting the Mueller report for two years now. It came out, and is apparently over 300 pages long. Barr released a four page summary of it, and that was that.

President Trump has said he has no problems with a full report being released. Is the justice dept worried about sources and methods being compromised? If so, they could just release a classified copy to Congress.

The longer they keep this eagerly awaited document from people who want to see it, it seems the worse it’s going to be for them. So what’s the hold up?

To put this in context. 4 pages is less than the typical high school book report, and it was written by someone specifically hired by the accused to downplay the report as he's got a long history of getting criminals off the hook.

The hold-up is that the GOP knows there are things unfavorable to them and their party leader in the report. Barr was brought on as an alternative to Sessions because trump and he obviously have an agreement that Barr is going to act as trump's personal protector. Mueller's not contradicting Barr's summary at this time because Mueller is a professional and won't join the MMA-type public opinion melee trump is most comfortable with.

If when Mueller comes before congress we'll learn more.

If I'm wrong - why did the GOP release the Starr report immediately for the whole world to see vs. why are they withholding the Mueller report?

1. Mueller's written report may only be some hundreds of pages (I've seen a range of number of pages spouted, but nothing over 1000), but that's not all he has. There are millions of documents, grand jury proceedings, interviews, wire taps, etc. This mass of data is all part of the result of Mueller's investigation...and the Dems in Congress want it all. It's going to take a lot of time to go through it all and decide what to release and what not to release. Be patient and try to refrain from speculation.

2. There are only 8 people in Congress...that is the House and the Senate...who are able to see the entire Mueller report unredacted, and believe me, if they release ANY of it without the AG's permission their ass is grass. (SERIOUS security violations...jail time) The rest of Congress will only see what the AG lets them see. There are cases where the AG might let all of Congress...or, maybe, just all of a committee...see an unredacted report or page of information, but they will then fall under very strict security rules. Unauthorized leaks...no Congressman will risk that.

3. Now you...you will see what the AG lets you see.

Surely they must realize how bad this looks. It’s just a matter of time before it is subpoenaed. Waiting so long, or downright just refusing to release it, only make it look worse.

If there is really nothing there, let’s see it.

The Trump administration is trying to make the "exoneration" narrative sink in first, so that by the time the full report comes out the public won't be interested in any of its revelations.

They learned from the Nunes debacle and are improving on the strategy. Time will only tell if it works.

Because as Judge Napolitano (a Fox guy) says...there's probably stuff in there that is so damning that they HAVE to hide it as long as possible and downply it as best they can when it finally comes out.

Unfortunately fighting it will likely make the whole thing look like MORE obstruction

That's a leftist dream come true... Right?

Every day that the report isn't released, is one more day you all get to cling to your "Russian collusion" fantasy.

The HPSCI can vote to release any or all of the report... The AG can not stop them...

If the full report exonerates Trump to the degree that Barr claims it down, then the Trump administration would release the report instantly. But they won't, because the full report obviously does no such thing.

This administration is 100% corrupt, so their motives aren't exactly difficult to see through.

Oops... I forgot to mention that it also feeds TDS.

So enjoy my friend... Enjoy!

p.s. I couldn't care less about how it reflects on Trump, because I think the man is an idiot.

I don’t understand. On the contrary, the sooner it comes out, the sooner everything can be fully put to rest. Keeping it secret like this for so long only fuels speculation and conspiracy theories.

If there is really nothing there, they should be eager to get this out as quickly as possible and get it over with.

Is the concept of not releasing classified information something you are unaware of? It's been around a very, very long time.

Yeah, nobody (yourself included) believes that they're delaying the release because of classified information. If that was the issue then he would have released the full report to a closed door bipartisan Congressional committee. But he didn't, because he wants to maintain himself as the sole filter for the report until the public's attention has moved on.

As stated in the OP, if it’s that top-secret, a classified copy could be released to select members of Congress, like the intelligence committee. Happens all the time.

What was Judge Napolitano referring to ??

The HPSCI can vote to release any or all of the report... The AG can not stop them...

They can only release what he gives them and we already know that the law, regulations and policy prevents him from giving them everything.

The chairman of the HPSCI has the authority to demand ANYTHING in the DOJ...

Keep in mind that the Nunes memo had to be approved by the Executive Branch.

The executive branch is CO-EQUAL to congress... The house can and has set their own rules for releasing classified information. The president can state, in writing, to the committee his objections but the house can still vote to release the information.

Congress gets classified information all the time. Most notably in the Clinton case.

Nonsense.

Hell, even the Nunes memo...that was approved by the executive branch...had redactions.

Congress cannot take it upon themselves to decide to release classified information. If they do, they go to jail.

Sure. They can "demand" anything they want. Doesn't mean they get it.
