Why is the average firearm owner, an unsafe gun owner?

what's the core problem ? clearly .... its people breaking into people's cars and stealing

agreed ?

The core problem is the underlying reasons why someone breaks into cars. Not the car theft itself. Same with gun violence. The core issue isn't the fact that gun owners are using their guns irresponsibly, it's the underlying reasons why they're being irresponsible.

And this whole gun control section is basically those same nerds being told to find a new hobby.

Absolutely true. They really need to start being responsible with firearms.

Do you store medications in their original container, or do you do the responsible thing and store them by less than lethal dose in separate safes?

Do you feel guilty over how you store your firearms so you have to grasp for strawmans and moving goalposts?

Answer my questions first before asking more of your own. They were pretty straightforward. Even if you want to extend it to "injury" the ratio is so ridiculous that it's still miniscule as described.

So your response to me talking about how gun owners are irresponsible when they use their guns for domestic violence is to say "it's such a small problem it doesn't matter".

Wow. That's just... do you really want to make that argument or do you just want to make a better one? I'll give you a redo.

It has nothing do with liking or not liking. I simply pointed out the stupidity of the method you are trying to use to determine if gun owners are safe.
Most gun owners are safe with their guns. The data proves this. No amount of you bleating about how they don’t follow the rules you want them to will change that.

The data doesn't prove gun owners are safe with their firearms though. Saying that gun owners are responsible with their firearms is unfortunately not true. The sad reality is more than half of gun owners aren't responsible with their firearms.

I already answered it. Now either read where I answered your question or stop asking the same questions again, it just looks like you are not reading my posts.
Great if you answered all my questions it should be easy to do again.

All less than a hundredth percent of them...

Yes it does. And you know it as it has been shown to you numerous times. That you just want to deny reality is not my problem.

The data is evidence that the overwhelming majority are safe with their firearms. Over 99.9% of them.

Saying that gun owners are responsible with their firearms is unfortunately not true. The sad reality is more than half of gun owners aren't responsible with their firearms.

Your claim is not true. It's something you made up. It only exists in your head.

Do you feel guilty over how you store your firearms so you have to grasp for strawmans and moving goalposts?

Do you feel guilty about how you store medications and so refuse to defend not applying the same standards you think others should use when it comes to guns?

Look at you, avoiding direct response again. Run, run.

I agree, it's been shown to me multiple times in this thread alone by the gun owners of DP that my fears have been confirmed. They're just not safe with guns. They either don't understand the larger issues at play, are ignorant at best and down right dismissive of the dangers of owning firearms, and quite frankly I think this will be the winning ticket for people going ahead.

Thank you to the many members of the DP community for helping to make a strong argument against irresponsible gun owners.

Listen I'm not taking the side of pro domestic violence. If you want to make that argument go for it. I'm not going to stop you. But I won't respond to a pro-domestic violence argument, that's uhhh kinda terrible argument to make and the better things to do when someone makes that argument is to let them seep in their own ignorance while they type it out.

Great if you answered all my questions it should be easy to do again.

It should be even easier to go to the posts. My suggestion? Start by looking for the post where you dismissed the source I gave you in the first place.

Lol all those unsafe gun owners not killing anybody.

All less than a hundredth percent of them...

More than 50% of gun owners are irresponsible and you think that's less than a hundredth percent of them.

Not going to lie but I think the bigger issue here is how bad irresponsible gun owners are dismissive of the dangers of owning firearms. Like look at what's going on here. I have a "medical professional" who can't spot signs of suicide and doesn't think there's anything that can be done to prevent it. A NRA instructor who can't spot one of the most important public health issues for gun owners and doesn't store firearms safely himself. And now we have a person making a pro-DV argument.

No offense but your less than a hundredth percent of them isn't inspiring much confidence.

No gun owners not meeting your stupid “standard” does not make them unsafe no matter how much you want to pretend otherwise.

The fact that there are so few accidents with firearms shows just how detached from reality you’re claims are.

But hey seeing as you have no issue living in your own little reality I can’t say your last oblivious paragraph surprises me

The core problem is the underlying reasons why someone breaks into cars.
they are not breaking into cars to steal guns. they're breaking into cars to steal anything - they are the problem

Not the car theft itself.
I think that's true

Same with gun violence.
there is no gun violence - guns are incapable of violence

The core issue isn't the fact that gun owners are using their guns irresponsibly,
100% agree

it's the underlying reasons why they're being irresponsible.
they're not being irresponsible -

Absolutely true. They really need to start being responsible with firearms.

locking up your car is now irresponsible because there are so many thieves in Colorado

that's your position ?

I think as many or more guns are stolen from homes in Colorado - home break-ins. Is it also your position that home owners are irresponsible because someone is breaking into their homes and stealing things?

More than 50% of gun owners are irresponsible and you think that's less than a hundredth percent of them.

You keep making that claim, but it's meaningless outside your imagination.

Not going to lie

Yes you are. You do so often.

but I think the bigger issue here is how bad irresponsible gun owners are dismissive of the dangers of owning firearms.

Real life data tell us that most don't fit that characterization. So you're just making up crap. You might not even realize you're doing that.

Those are lies.

Your lies are offensive.

No. I don't agree.

so the criminals are not the problem - the ones literally breaking the law and breaking into people cars and stealing things ... not the problem

and this, ladies and gentlemen, is anti-gun/liberal Democrat beliefs at its finest. The victims of crimes are the problem, protect the criminals, pass laws to fine the victims. That's what they believe

This is what I mean when I say surface levels of engagement. The problem isn't the car thefts, it's the underlying reason why there are car thefts in the first place. I don't know why you can't get past that argument. It's like you're just repeating yourself here.

K. If you have nothing more than this I think I'm done talking to you. Have a good day.
