At least 1,000 live animals, including rabbits, pigs, cows and rodents, were tested on between 1989 and 2010, while the Senate candidate was a ‘principal investigator’ at Columbia University

The race for the U.S. Senate in Pennsylvania is getting heated between Dr. Mehmet Oz, a Republican, and John Fetterman, a Democrat. Things took a turn for the worse when puppies got involved.

A Jezebel report alleged that research which Oz was involved in killed over 300 dogs during experiments that violated the Animal Welfare Act, which sets the standard for the care of animals. This was corroborated by whistleblower and veterinarian Catherine Dell’Orto’s testimony.

A campaign ad showing Oz in a lab & dogs in harnesses under great pain. And to him abortion is murder?

Comparing lab animals to babies is insane.

I suppose you and Fetterman would prefer the Josef Mengele method of experimenting better.

This is an outrage. Oz even practiced his quackery on puppies.

Democrats are showing their desperation.

Comparing lab animals to babies is insane.

Only in the minds of people who hate all animal species that participate in laboratory studies, including those millions of people are unable to live without.

Yes - animals are used in scientific experiments across the country and around the world on a daily basis. BUT, there are standards that these animals must be kept in.

Dr. Oz is alleged to have VIOLATED those standards. (Not at all surprising to many who already recognize him as a liar and grifter)

For most people, this will be WAY far down on the list of "reasons NOT to vote for Oz" - because it is a VERY long list.

Also not surprising, there are still millions of people in PA that will vote for "Dr Oz" simply because he has an "R" next to his name.

I suppose partisans are always quick to make excuses for their side.

Animal cruelty anyone?
Why do they leave out that the FDA requires animal testing before they will approve it for human trials. You know the big gov regulatory div that the left is fond of. They are the ones requiring this if someone wants to advance medicine. Should we stop working on medical innovations?

We've added about 40 years to our lifespan since 1900, and animal testing is a major reason why. I love animals and absolutely believe in their humane treatment, but I'm grateful to lab research.

So you ignore that there are laws and regulations around HOW animals must be treated while a part of scientific experiments and that Oz is alleged to have violated those?

Or do you think animal testing, in general, should be skipped and products should come to market without any testing or should be tested on humans more?

This is only an issue for one race, this is not even on the list of issues being talked about generally speaking for seats up for grabs in 2022, which should tell you everything you need to know.

Yeah, "Dr. Oz" is a trash candidate and that pile of trash goes deeper than most would have expected?

That is one way to avoid the point. Is animal testing even an issue in any other race but this one? Yes or no?

(BTW, I do agree Dr Oz is a piece of shit... but at least be honest about what this thread and subject is really about.)

Alleged by who?

Animal testing is a moot point everywhere because there are guidelines and regulations around it.

If a candidate for a seat in the senate has violated that sacred trust, is that not an issue? Is the content of the character not an issue for political candidates?

Are there any other individuals running for a political office that have been involved in animal testing and accused of violating regulations around animal cruelty in that space?

Perhaps we should evaluate how far we have fallen IF following rules and regulations for scientific experiments isn’t a standard we expect to be upheld.

Was he found liable for this "violation," were there fines or some other punishment?

I do not have those answers, but I would offer that until someone can demonstrate that Dr. Oz violated those regulation this is just a mud throw.

There were settlements - it’s an older story.

Feel free to Google.

There is no evidence that Dr Oz misstreated any animals but don't let that interfere with your irresponsible smear attack on him. Whatever it takes to get the vegetable with a D next to his name elected is fair game.

Then it may be a reasonable argument to add to the reasons not to vote for Dr. Oz.

But, as I said I do not care enough about him.

He was the head of the department.

Do you not hold leaders responsible?

It was never proven that any animals were abused to begin with but if there was Dr Oz was very clear that he had no knowledge of it. Please keep bulldozing forward with it to help elect a vegetable to the Senate.

Dr Oz has a track record as a liar and a grifter.
