Why hasn't Obama waived the Jones act?

No, it's not. Have anything relevant to add?

Apparently you are unaware of what the act actually does. And why there are 15 foreign ships all helping out that didn't need waivers.

Shipping donated goods to victims of Katrina =/= specialized ships used to help contain oil.

Again, is your post a joke? Or are you just exceedingly uninformed about the topic?

Why hasn't Obama waived the Jones act?

It is not in his self interest.
Just as not giving Jindal a timely answer about the sand berms.

Obama, using JFK's line:

It's not what you can do for your country, shi-ma... it's what you can do for me, me power, and me constituent groups.
Never let a crisis go to waste.
Know what I'm say'in?
.

Well, we're at 61 days and still no waiver of the Jones act. Very little still done with help from other country's as well, though CNN this morning seems to be pushing the U.S. recieved some water booms from Canada and Norway and BP purchased some from Mexico. But that's still about it...

Well, it appears only Glinda and I know what the Jones act does.

Anyone care to explain how the Jones act prevents the US from accepting foreign countries sending specialized ships to help?

Furthermore, anyone care to explain why there are currently 15 foreign ships operating in the containment area without waivers?

Nah, let's just assume whatever we want and bash Obama on it.

Um, during the aftermath of Katrina, Bush declined Cuba's offer to send 8,000 medical personnel with fully-equipped field hospitals to help with relief efforts.

God knows how many died because of Bush's obstinate determination to prove a political point.

Actually very few people died in the aftermath of Katrina so we really didn't need 8000 medical personnel. Almost all died during the hurricane and subsquent flooding. We had plenty enough personnel to handle the medical needs. The rescue and recovery was the biggest problem.
