Why don't you see this in the media?

Because it's not praising the "one". It's a great video.

It would fit perfectly with the "news" propoganda over on FAUXNews.

Iraq was a mistake.

I recognize the service of all the men and women who have served honorably but that does not make Iraq not a mistake.

I recognize our servicemen and women were only following the orders of their CiC, and the officers assigned over them, but that does not make Iraq not a mistake.

I understand we have lost thousands of men and women who have given their lives in Iraq because the orders of their CiC and the officers assigned over them sent them there but that does not make Iraq not a mistake.

Iraq was, and is still, a mistake.

Spc. Cook is one of many who believe if they have served, especially in Combat that somehow they know more--that they're an authority on the subject of what's best.

Spc. Cook votes for McCain because of "Freedom?" McCain doesn't have no monopoly on Freedom and Obama and McCain aren't the only one on the prez ticket and for this soldier or any other soldier to say, "duty, honor, principle and honor" and then to use the Lesser evil excuse as many soldiers are doing = FRAUD. I will vote for McCain because he will ease in Socialism, not because of his not found WMDs, his "easy win in Iraq" promise and the Trillion dollars that will be spent on the War and then a shaft given to Vets down the road that is inevitable.

uh, the internets are not just a series of tubes, they are (also) media.

The day we lost our will to fight

Is the day we became a divided country.

I highly doubt that if I made a video stating my opinion that the Iraqi war is and was a total mistake, it would make the news either. Whereas, I do respect this young man's opinion, honor his service, and stand by his right to make such an opinion, his opinion is no more or no less valuable than mine. But it certainly is not news. It is just opinion.

You join the military, have some guy yelling at you for 8 weeks straight, lower your self-esteem by making you get down on your hands and knees to scrub toilets with a toothbrush Live fire exercises where, hey, you could get killed, physical punishment in the way of push-ups and whatever you really don't feel like doing, etc. Then tries to rebuild that self-esteem by telling you you're a killer, and teaching you how to kill.
All the while, the same guy, after having "broken" you, wants you to feel a part of something bigger than yourself, and how you are a team, and how, as your team leader, wouldn't lie to you because he is trying to save your life, and all the other guys in the room with you are your only real friends and will save your life if they are able and you should do the same for them.
Then, a war breaks out and your new friends and leader, who wouldn't lie to you, is told that the war is good, and our President is good, and we have to do this thing to be safe, and this goes on and on every day for years...
Result?
You start to believe whatever they want you to believe.

Tell me are you John Kerry or John Murtha? You sound just like them......Just remember one thing the people that are in our military are the best and the brightest this country has to offer and don't you forget it my left wing friend.........God bless them all for the sacrifices they have made to keep us safe and that includes someone like you..........

Yea NP. Those people in the military also do it for narrow minded, right wing, kill-em all let God sort em out, sorts too. But they don't do it for political reasons or because Iraq is right or wrong but because they know the person in the foxhole next to them is dependent upon them for their survival and vice versa.

We, you know you and I, who aren't fighting now, we just get to enjoy the benefits of not having to fight any war, sit at home and type away at our pc's about how if you don't support the war you don't support the troops and other bull**** claims.

No matter how you try and parse it my left wing friend It is impossible to support the troops and not their mission to be victorious.......If you don't support the mission you don't support the troops.......Its a ****ing simple as that..........The guy on the video who lost his leg is right on.......Deal with it........

So you think that 2/3 of Americans don't support the troops?

A lot of smart people chose to invade Iraq post 9/11 including the two senators in the presidential race. The Monday morning quarterback was never accountable for preventing further attacks on the US, Biden, Clinton and McCain were. But America has a disdain for war and a short memory. This will all change the next time we get hit on US soil. And it isn't a matter of if, it is a matter of when. Right now we are engaged with these radical Islamic slime rags in a way that keeps them too busy to come after us here. This will most likely change in the near future.

and for much of the other third, it goes something like this:

It's sad that anyone would try to use their military experience as currency to somehow lend credibility to their personal political opinion. The video implies that this guy's political opinions are somehow superior by virtue of the fact that he served. This is why we don't see videos like this in the media. It's nothing more than propaganda.

watching too many movies.

I'm not sure where you did your recruit training. Sounds to me more like a scene from Full Metal Jacket. I was punished in recruit training for making poor decisions and failing to take the correct initiative to include leading others when appropriate. My experience also included intensive training in the code of conduct and treatment of enemy POWs and non-combatants. Additionally, I was instructed to disobey any and all illegal orders, period.

So you think that 2/3 of Americans don't support the troops?

Wrong, still, as usual.....Americans would like to get out Iraq that is true but most want to finish the job we started as does our troops fighting there....................

People don't hope that the troops will lose the war, they hope that the politicians will end it

You make it sound like military personnel are the only smart people or have the smartest in the country. The guy in this video is not one of them. He does fit one of the brainwashed individuals I was outlining however. I'm pretty sure that there are smart people (if not, smarter and brighter people) that are not in the military, nor were ever in the military.

Nobody is questioning their sacrifices.

Wrong, still, as usual.....Americans would like to get out Iraq that is true but most want to finish the job we started as does our troops fighting there....................

Yes, many would like to finish the job, I'm sure. The original mission was suppose to be to get Osama Bin Laden. Everything else was just a "bonus" or afterthought (Providing Bush didn't want to get Saddam for the sake of getting him. That's another argument).

So, assuming that they wanted to finish the original mission, and get OBL, then -- referring to your post about how the military has the best and brightest this country has to offer -- they need to get the country right. OBL was never in Iraq.

*Unless I disagree with their political idealogy...in which case, I am free to belittle their military service and will use an entire flurry of lies to smear them.
