Why does this motivate atheists?

This is some pretty low IQ trolling. We know you aren't as stupid as this post is. This isn't going to work for you. Sorry.
Are you denying most scientists were theists back in the day?
Are you denying world religions helped to civilize masses on a global scale?
(with exceptions)
Are you denying theists in all the world religions still hold great power?
And you think my IQ is low?

You couldn't be more wrong if you tried.
Life is good because of all the things theists accomplished.
Theists are still in control.
If it weren't for theism, we'd still be barbarians.

Congrats on completely missing the point of my comment. None of those advances had anything to do with the people in control being theists. The more that theists were in control, and the more controlling their theism was, the less progress the world has ever made.

Oops, you forgot how this works. I am not your assistant. You have to make your own points. Good luck.

It's not just about teaching them. It's what you teach them that matters.
So, teaching ethics you agree with is acceptable but teaching Christian based ethics is unacceptable?
How about this?
Christian parent "there is a loving God and hope for the future."
Atheist parent "there is no God and your life will be eternally meaningless".

Atheists are always telling theists that their belief in God is as silly as a child believing in Santa Claus and fairy tales. They feel as if they have the intellectual high ground because they alone are enlightened to the truth.
And yet, atheists know that theism brings comfort to billions of people around the globe. What then is their motivation for wanting to take that comfort away?
Does it give them a sense of satisfation? Do they feel morally obligated to spread their truth because it's for the good of society?
As an atheist, what motivates you to spread your message, both here on DP and the other places you do so?
I don't think I'm an atheist, but rather an agnostic who leans toward atheism.
I have never encountered an atheist who acts like what you describe here.

That said, I think we need to define what you mean by "Atheists are always telling theists".

Are we talking about a random atheist person accosting some random theist person and telling them their beliefs are silly and stupid?
OR are we talking about a theist who presents their opinion to the public or (for example) a discussion forum, and then has an atheist tell them their beliefs are silly and stupid.

Because those two hypothetical examples are not the same.
In the first case, the theist is minding their own business, and should really be wondering how the random atheist even knows they are a theist. Assuming no outward signs are presented.
In the second case, they are not. Or perhaps more accurately, they are making it their business to present a position/belief in a forum which allows for disagreement, and contains people who have various reasons to confront it.

Replace theists with atheists.
Replace religion with ethics.
How do you expect any kid to learn anything unless you teach them?

I didn't teach my child about atheism. She was born an atheist, and she is free to learn about religion if and whenever she wants.

I didn't teach her how to play video games, or about the lore in her favorite books. She learned about it all by herself.

Did you teach your children about molecular biology when they were 5?

And again, you didn't really respond to my comment, which isn't even the least bit surprising.

In all fairness, we haven't dropped nukes on civilian population centers in a while.
We haven't killed many infidels lately, either. Even though the Bible says we should.

We've seen plenty of science deniers here and now the history deniers are coming out.

In the meantime, the question still has only been answered by one brave atheist.

Really, educate me then. When was Rome better off relative to the rest of the world? Before or after the RCC took over? How about the Middle East? Before or after the Islamists sunk their teeth in?

What contributions have any organized religions made to the advancement of civilization in modern times?

There is definitely a pattern here on DP.
1) A theist posts a legitimate question.
2) Atheists don't answer it.
3) To hide that they are avoiding it, they deflect and insult.
4) After enough deflections and insults are inflicted they declare themselves debate winners based on their number of participants and posts alone. No logic necessary.
Steps 1-4 are repeated again, sometimes even several times.
But none of this is surprising. This is to be expected from a system that is built on a foundation of darkess and hopelessness.
Good night everybody. It looks like we have another thread that is heading toward 1,000 posts. Thanks to everybody who is participating. This is so fun it is hard to put down. I suppose steps 1-4 will be repeated a lot again.

Because rational people ignore such childishly and speciously loaded questions. Your trolling thread title is receiving the level of respect it deserves.

Now you know why. No need to flail anymore.

We look forward to even more similar, amazing threads from you, like:

"Why is my dog so good at calculus, but so average at physics?"

And

"Why do my houseplants speak in a British accent?"

Nice strawman, since I never indicated any particular subject matter. It seems you're getting rather defensive?

What exactly is being denied and how? You make that claim but never substantiate it. Why is that.

And yet, they have and do for millions...

"Evidence" does not equal valid evidence. In the long run, evidence needs to add up to proof. Do you know what proof is? Please articulate an answer...if you post a dictionary definition that's fine, but then you still need to show you understand that definition - and how it proves God.

If you're dead, why should you care about eternity? Why not be a good person now and live for now and those you love and making life better for people now?

Maybe you believe that your personal selfish 'eternity' is more important? Maybe a lot of people believe making the world here and now better is more important and it's not based on the selfish desire for themselves in 'eternity?'

Your focus on this disgusts me as a Christian...you dont preach God's Word, you preach fear and selfishness....'me me me in the future!' 'I get eternal life!' and yet when I ask what's so great about a life 'with no meaning after life here on Earth' I got no answers (another thread). It was just an eternal selfish 'vacation.'

Btw, God's Word is compassion, forgiveness, brotherly love, and peace. Anyone can practice those things and millions do, and millions of those are not Christians. I dont hear you discussing it...how to be a better person here on earth, at all. Just the threat of missing out on some eternal vacation.

And one brave Christian.

In posts 29 and 67. Are you dismissing my answers just because I'm a Christian? If so, please explain why.

Gloating over your failure and dishonesty wont go a long way in getting you to that "eternal life".
