Atheists are always telling theists that their belief in God is as silly as a child believing in Santa Claus and fairy tales. They feel as if they have the intellectual high ground because they alone are enlightened to the truth.
And yet, atheists know that theism brings comfort to billions of people around the globe. What then is their motivation for wanting to take that comfort away?
Does it give them a sense of satisfation? Do they feel morally obligated to spread their truth because it's for the good of society?
As an atheist, what motivates you to spread your message, both here on DP and the other places you do so?

Humanism has the answers. And without the myth and superstition of belief in God.
Why are you so triggered by atheists?

I doubt if humanism has the answers either. At least not to my questions.

If you are happy with your beliefs, why do you keep starting threads trying to convince others of how correct you are?

Well, when you have a book claiming that people are multiple centuries old , it isn't good for the credibility and such. You have to admit some of that stuff is pretty ridiculous to a modern mind.

As you know, I don't want to take anything away from you, so long as you enjoy your faith without using it in any way to explain or justify odious acts against others.

I actually think that this comfort thing is a good thing for those that wish to believe and have no problem with it.

My message, if I have one is, do unto others as you would like done to you. I know you will say that this is a religious message but ultimately it is a human message formed, no doubt, to try to make our living together less troublesome.

Not triggered, just curious. So, what is your motivation?

This is a man, and it is made of straw.

I'm so glad you feel comforted. You know what comforts me?

Having the ability to marry my fiancée. You know who keeps trying to push against that? Religious fundamentalists.

You can take your comfort and throw it in the trash. 🗑

(Also, don't cry that we respond to these threads. You don't like it? Don't post here.)

I know few Christians who feel that way but this thread is about theists, not just Christians.

So, does this mean you are not going to answer the question of what motivates you?

Some do sometimes but most don't, certainly not regularly. You statement is like someone saying; "Theists are always telling atheists that they're evil and will suffer in hell for all eternity".

Theism or atheism are, in themselves, very minor characteristics and the difference doesn't drive much of anyone's individual characteristics or actions. I know plenty of theists I have much more in common with than I do with countless atheists. Even on this forum, I can be just as likely to agree with a theist's posting as an atheist's, even on theological topics.
