I am an Aussie and in Australia children do not shower together at school. That is seriously weird. I have seen through US media that it is common for American children to get naked together after sport/PE - or 'gym' as you Americans call it. I remember seeing shows as a kid like The Wonder Years and seeing that American children shower at school and thinking how odd it was. Do American kids really get so sweaty doing sport? And cant you guys make sport at the end of the day so kids can just go home and shower? It is seriously weird that America makes kids shower together at school. So since everyone is freaking out about American transgender children showering at school with non-transgender kids lets talk about this. And how weird you guys are for making children shower together at school.

So I am pretty sure that most normal countries do not make kids shower at school. We dont do that in Australia anyway. So I just did some googling and I found that S kids do not have to shower at school and few do. This is from 1996 -

Some things about P.E. never change. But as the 1996 fall semester unfolds in Orange County, it is clear one thing has: Few students shower at school now.

Not after P.E. Not after a two-hour round of competitive basketball. Not after a stinky, sweaty football game.

"I can't remember the last time I saw a kid take a shower," says Dan Miller, veteran athletic director at Anaheim High School, which more than 2,000 students attend.
Schools Throw in the Towel on Getting Kids to Shower - latimes

There doesnt seem to be any US laws that force children to shower together at schools and it seems that the only reason US children were ever doing it was because your schools and teachers made children feel like they had to do it. So why was America making kids feel like they had to shower at school? And we can say that America made kids feel like they had to shower at school but in reality America was forcing kids to shower at school because back in the day you really couldnt sue over something like that and children would have gotten into trouble if they refused to shower at school I would imagine. So basically your society is weird and you were forcing children to get naked together at school. What the hell? Why?

So we jump forward and US media makes it seem as though this is still happening - yet - if you look into it it seems that most US children do not shower at school. So why does US media make it seem like they still do? US media is making a big deal about this transgender kid that wants to shower with female students - but the fact is that none of these kids actually need to shower at school.

WEST DUNDEE, Ill.— They might wear nose rings, shave their heads or sport tattoos on their who-knows-where. But among most American high school students these days, one thing is considered way too strange: showering with classmates after gym period.

"Standing around together naked?" said Andre Hennig, an 18-year-old senior at McHenry High School in the northwest suburbs of Chicago. "Oh no, man -- people would feel really uncomfortable about that."

So is this really the big deal that US media is trying to make out? It seems that US kids - like kids from normal countries - do not like standing around together naked. And you know from US media I have noticed that US likes the types of showers that are all open and force kids to actually stand around together and shower. Like in that movie Porkies. You guys like the big open showers with no stall in USA dont you? That force a group of children to shower all together. You dont like stalls. Maybe if you really want kids to shower at school you could go with stalls that offer children some privacy? You are a seriously weird country.

So I am doing more googling on this and it seems that Europeans and UK are just as weird as you Americans. Apparently they have kids showering together at school as well - but like American children - few do. Children do not want to stand around naked together. You have been forcing them to do it.

All I can say is that Im glad that I am Australian. You are all weirdos.

Half of boys and nearly two-thirds of girls say they never shower after school PE lessons, according to a study by the University.

With worryingly declining fitness levels among today’s British youngsters, the scientists feel more research now needs to be done to see if shunning the shower could be a barrier to children being more physically active and working up a sweat during PE.

The study, published in the European Journal of Sports Sciences, which assessed more than 3,000 secondary school children from eight schools, found that three quarters of pupils do not shower after PE lessons. Half of boys and two thirds of girls surveyed said they had never had a shower at school. Only 10% of boys and 7% of girls said they always showered.

Why not just make sport at the end of the day and let children shower at home like we do in Australia? Simples. Kids dont want to get naked together at school.

edit- Europeans like the communal type showers more than you Americans do apparently.

Its a hygiene issue, seriously you should shower after working out.

And ya' know what else? When I was in high school, the guys all swam naked. WTF?? Makes a body wonder...

Because there are limited supplies of PE teachers and facilities so the classes rotate throughout the day in Middle/Jr and High schools. Hence if you have PE in the morning, you may well stink the rest of the day if you don't shower.

Are you serious? Whoa. That doesn't make any sense. At school? This would make so many people run around like their hair was on fire! It would be pretty funny.

Our theory is that if you're going to borrow them clean, then please return them clean. We don't like dirty children.

US, UK and European media is still trying to pressure children to shower at school. When clearly they do not want to. Why? A school day is 6 hours? Unless 'gym' or PE/Sport is held right at the start of the day then what the hell are media worried about? What health risk is it for a child to be sweaty for a couple of hours? What exactly is so worrying about children not showering at school? Why does US/UK/European media want so desperately for school children to get naked together? When clearly they do not want to.

And why cant schools hold PE/Sport at the end of the day? Is it really so hard?

Dont you have deodorant in USA? And why not hold sport at the end of the day? Kids dont want to stand around together naked.

Its still a hygiene issue, even at the end of the day you still need to shower. You ever wonder why gyms have showers in them when people could just drive home and take a shower?

How long has it been since you showered?

Well children dont want to shower at school. I dont think that they should have to. Or be pressured to. Maybe you guys shouldnt have PE.

You don't need to be insulting calling us "weird" repeatedly or not "normal."

Showering after gym was a hygiene issue. If you get dirty or sweat you clean yourself so you don't stink or look dirty. Not all shower facilities are open shower heads with no privacy, many are shower facilities with curtains or private shower stalls. Oftentimes you won't need to expose yourself at all. Regardless, the core of the issue is to promote hygiene after doing activities that make you dirty or stink.

That's what I said back then. We should have had more art and music classes instead.

Well your children do not want to shower together at school. And most do not. How sweaty are you Americans? God.

You sweat on a hot day without doing any exercise at all. You are being hysterical. Children do not need to shower at school. And few do.

I wanted to shower at a school. In fact, it's the only reason I went to school.

Didnt you have a shower at home? What was it about showering at school that you enjoyed so much?

Dont you have deodorant in USA? And why not hold sport at the end of the day? Kids dont want to stand around together naked.

Already answered why it's not at the end of the day. Not enough facilities or instructors to accommodate a last of the day class of ... depending on the school 1000 kids. Just not going to happen. You must've been in a very small school, or had a whole lot of PE teachers, gyms, fields, etc.

If it's clean, showering at the gym, if it is clean, is okay. Driving home is much better, if you have time.

12 hours.

kids, or you? insecurity problems?

I just posted the stuff above saying that few children shower at school.

And for me standing around naked with a bunch of other guys makes me feel kind of gay. Or Greek or something. We dont wrestle in Australia either.
