Tulsi Gabbard stated under oath that there was no classified information in the text chain. She also said she didn’t recall specific weapons systems or timing.

Even if you assume her memory is already failing her on basic facts regarding the core of what she showed up to congress to testify about, she made a demonstrably false claim.

They all knew they were in a Signal groupchat where classified information was being openly discussed with randos who may or may not be the people they claim to be, and they knew (or should have known) they were violating document retention rules.

First off, it's not classified unless it's marked as classified as in annotated with (S), (TS). Next, politicians and military bigwigs are just there as a CC carbon copy observers. They're not going to add to the conversation. It's like CC to your boss. It's a courtesy. Your boss may not have a clue what going on. In this case she probably is unfamiliar with the lingo, thus make it hard for her to remember.

That is 100% wrong. Documents and information may be "presumptively" classified without being marked. For example, as here, operational plans that include times of attacks, location, methods, and units, or any combinations of such elements. Derivative material is also still classified, even if not marked.

No one on that chat was uninformed of these rules. Gabbard is the DNI. It's her ****ing JOB to know. She lied.

Is there any security guide that states you don't need classification makers? The cover page can say 'top secret' but that page by itself is unclassified, it's the content which must be marked, page by page, paragraph by paragraph.

They were not to use that unsecured app for such information and they received a memo reminding them of that the week before.
