This is a topic we're going over in my Ethics class. I thought it was a pretty interesting discussion and thought that some on this board might be interested in said discussion.
Basically the question is:
When a child is born with an ambiguous genitalia, there is normally an operation to "correct" this condition. Some intersexual children grow up having surgeries below the belt until adolesence. Should intersexual children be "corrected," or is there nothing there to be corrected? Should the decision be left to the children for when they grow up or should parents try to make life easier for the child?
