Why Are Jews Liberals?

is it ALWAYS about party before country with your type?
What are you talking about? What in my post led you to believe I am more interested in party politics than the welfare of the country? I'll wait.

I am half ethically Jewish the sun of a son from northern european immanent jews.

When a Jew from Israeli settles in the USA they assimilate. The links back to Israel start to weaken and they identify with being a american rather then a Israeli.

I would think it would be the same for any one going from one country to another.

So when you look at the the voting block of jewish americans you are seeing then as Israeli americans jewish rather then just americans with is what they are now and there is in any one how changes country still a strong feeling trod the country they left and they left it for a resin.

Further more both the majority both palestinians and Israelis both wont peace not war. In the US kids often see war as a fun and makes a good video game. In Israelis kids are scared to death of war and have a different perspective.

When you look at liberals and conservatives when it comes to war you might understand way former Israel jews vote for the candidate how speaks more of peace.

Norman Podhoretz: Why Are Jews Liberals? - WSJ.com

I agree with Norman Podhoretz that Liberal Jews have developed their own religion, a "Torah of Liberalism," so to speak.

according to my father Jews are liberal until their daughters bring home a black man *shrugs*

Exactly, I'm a conservative and I voted for Obama, not because I particularly liked him but because I didn't want McCain and Palin anywhere remotely close to the White House.

Lots and lots of conservatives did the same.

And you wanted OBAMA IN the White House? SOME conservatives are such fools.

BTW, MOST (like myself) voted for the Constitution Party.

No, if most did, they might have actually gotten decent poll numbers. The Constitution Party is garbage through and through and had no shot whatsoever in winning the election. See, that's the thing. No matter who you vote for, you still have to live under the regime of the group that actually gets elected. Voting for someone who has no chance whatsoever to get elected is throwing your vote away.

With that attitude, we'll be living under a dictatorship in no time!! Good thinking!!

How are you conservative again?

Then why did the country start going downhill AFTER the welfare state was invented, and not before?

I mean, did you people seriously think that giving the people a hammock was going to encourage them to work?

You refer to unemployment benefits? They're a means of sustaining static efficiency through the reduction of underemployment. But try to stay on topic. :2wave:

Unfortunately, you have to deal with reality. The current reality is millions upon millions of people who are going to vote straight party line because that's what they've been taught since birth to do. Most of them don't even know what their party stands for, nor have they read anything about their candidate's platform. That's reality. When that reality changes, and I sincerely hope that it does, then I'll reconsider my position. Until then though, I want to vote against the individual that I least want in office because there is never a single candidate running from *ANY* party that I can actually support with a clear conscience. At best, you can improve the situation by small steps. At worst, you can keep some moron from screwing up the country even more.

That's reality. Let me know when it's not the case anymore.

In the spirit of this thread, I have a few questions of my own to ask:

1) Why are people from Texas cowboys and oil workers?

2) Why do Italians eat pizza?

3) Why are African Americans members of the Nation of Islam?

4) Why do Cubans smoke cigars?

5) Why are Michiganders skiers?

6) Why are Russians communist?

7) Why are Mexicans illegal aliens?

8) Why do Chinese get all of their food take out?

9) Why do Irishmen belong to the IRA?

And the last question?

10) Is DanaRhea trying to imply that there is no "one size fits all" here?

BONUS QUESTION: Since DanaRhea is half Jewish, is only half of his tallywacker circumsized?

You're ignoring the point of the thread, which is that a majority of Jews are liberal. And a pretty sizable majority at that.

A better thread title would have been "Why Are Most Jews Liberals?"

I disagree with pretty much 80% of the Constitution Party's platform but voting third party is not throwing your vote away. Thats what the statists want you to think. I believe voting against what you believe is throwing your vote away. I learned that lesson when I voted for Bush in 2004 because I bought into the fear. With my views there was no way I couldve looked at myself in the mirror the next morning if I voted for either Obama or McCain.

The thread was named after the book of the same name. :)

If I only voted for who I could actually support, I'd never vote because there isn't a candidate running for any election these days that actually stands for things I support and there is no "none of the above" option. You have to vote for someone and pragmatically, you have to vote for someone who has a chance in hell of actually winning.
