Many people simply like easy, black/white "solutions" to nuanced problems that don't lend themselves to such simplistic thinking.

Because:

A Republic Form of Representative Governance in a Representative Democracy... was designed for an "Educated Society'.

There will be some who won't delve into the link provided, but this is not a new phenomenon, there are indeed intelligent and educated people on the Conservative side of the political spectrum, but less so on the Far Right, those who believe in conspiracy theories and stolen elections. THAT is just par for the course.
It is worth noting though, a few lines from the above link:

Now, let’s discuss what education looks like. You are taught science. You are taught economics. You are taught history. Maybe you’re even taught sociology or ethics.

The more education you get, the more diverse your social circle likely gets.

Education by itself is not the be all and end all. Those who travel, allow themselves to be exposed to different philosophies, different religions (doesn't mean you have to follow them) and break bread with different demographics (blacks, Asians, gay people) tend to have a "broader" view of the world. Those who isolate themselves in a community of like-thinking people, tend to have insular views.

I am not college educated but have very liberal views. That came from traveling a lot in my youth, talking to people from all walks of life, reading a variety of material - including history, science, philosophy, etc.

Also, well educated, OR well read or well traveled folks are less likely to get offended by threads like this one, those who feel "slighted" by the suggestions made in this OP will lash out. Watch for it.

Liberals are just so full of themselves it is ridiculous!

Not everyone wants to be indoctrinated the liberal way 🤮🤮
Is being educated "indoctrination"? Is attempting to understand the world and the people in it "indoctrination"?

well im an independent but id say its because of the "NATIONAL" messaging of the GOP platform

i know tons of righties who are educated people BUT they are normal righties they mock fox news and donnie for how stupid and dishonest they are because again, they are educated
they choose to be on the right based on principles they feel still remain while acknowledging the nutters but they arr NOT the squeaky wheel, they are not catered to by congress

there are many others that have those same principles BUT they cant bring themselves to be associated with the bathshit insane national message . . . . . they cant handle being associated to the nutters and squeaky wheels so they pick the other side or another party or independence

now admittedly that's unfair individuals should be judged as individuals but our society isn't good at that and many educated people cant stomach being grouped with the "STEREOTYPE" of racists and bigots and vile people like Donnie.

i know this cause I'm the same way, I'm independent because i don't fit in a box nor do i want to be grouped with nutters.

Uneducated conservatives will tell you that all colleges are liberal brainwashing institutions that only teach political propaganda. Not once in 6 years of my bachelor's and master's in electrical engineering did anyone even remotely discuss politics.

The actual reason is because education helps people understand the nuances of the world better and helps them think critically. It's as Trump rightly noticed "I love the uneducated". Only those people would believe the nonsense he makes up.

The Republican Party has become what one political writer has called "The Beverly Hillbillies" because their two most loyal factions are billionaires and isolated rural folks who are quite poor.

What do thus two obviously disparate groups of people have in common? Very little contact with people who aren't just like them. Their world view is extremely limited.

Look at the conservative posters here and their support for education curriculum that writes out so many voices that aren't identical to theirs. They eschew any critical analysis of history.

They feel besieged by forces they don't understand.

This statement right here is pretty well echoed by any analysis of political polarization I have seen over the last 5 years.

This population is getting left behind and feels that their very way of life and identity are threatened by modern institutions and concepts.

The real cry behind MAGA is wanting to return to a world they understand, which is an impossible task as technology does not flow backwards without significant violence and oppression.

A close friend, whom I have known for decades, was raised in a very far-right-wing family. This friend, who is very intelligent, won a scholarship to an international private high school (which was in the city where the family lived). While a student there, they got to know kids from all over the world. When they graduated, they had changed from far-right-wing to a Bernie supporter. They attribute that to knowing people from all different cultures with different world, political and religious views.

Two great quotes comes to mind

"The facts of life are conservative"- KLATTU ( ripped off by Margaret Thatcher)

"It's not that liberals are ignorant , it's that they know so much that isn't so" -Klattu( ripped off by Reagan)

Case in point- a gaggle of liberal not so long were claiming that the rise in gas prices was due to corporate greed!( GIGGLEfest)

What is wrong with:

JUST LOOK at practical thinking:
99% of the nations population could live with the following and be healthier, wiser and wealthier !

Prosperity Not Austerity (austerity pulls money from economy kind of like a fascist economy).

⇨ H.R. 1 will stop Dark Money From Interfering

⇨ H.R. 1 will create a national voter registration program automatically giving ALL citizens the right to vote.

⇨ H.R. 1 will END partisan gerrymandering that gives the GOP an UNFAIR advantage.

Close 600 USA Military Bases

Thank you to the 10 Senators who voted NO on the disturbingly enormous $778 BILLION Pentagon budget today. Bernie Sanders and 8 others

The NDAA may have passed Congress, but we won't cease our calls to #CutThePentagon until the US government cares more about people & the planet than war.

Being Canadian, we don't have Bernie supporters and even our Conservatives would never advocate doing away with abortion rights or denying election results. Does that make Canadians more educated? Not necessarily, but since we have a much more integrated society our exposure to different cultures is broader.

"Educated" people are liable to be liberal (at least in theory) because:

1. The more educated you are, the better the chance that you'll have a well-paying job.

2. With a well-paying job, you will be able to live in a safer neighborhood.

3. With a well-paying job, you can avoid mixing with (the) hoi polloi on public transportation.

4. Being "educated" means you were exposed to the "progressive" views of professors who themselves have never lived in the real world among (the) hoi polloi, so those professors idealize them in their lectures to naive students.

a. For example: Some young people commit horrific crimes of violence because of society's injustices toward them. So once we fix those injustices, this country will be paradise on earth.

We liberals, moderates and women don't always agree on everything UNLIKE the Fake Republicans and their worshippers. If that requires "educated" then so be it.

Why are educated people more likely to be liberal/progressive in the US?

Because the people who are inclined to follow Trump and his Republican ilk are low IQ inbred morons. Look at any video of a Trump rally and you'll see fat long-haired bearded rednecks. And the men look even worse.
