Why are classified documents still at Mar-a-Lago?

IYO, why are classified documents still at Trump's Mar-a-Lago residence?

The only way this makes sense is they potentially hurt him.

Federal law bars the removal of classified documents to unauthorized locations, though it is possible that Trump could try to argue that, as president, he was the ultimate declassification authority.​

In any event, this is the motivation for the FBI's actions...

No matter the legal risk, it exposes him to charges of hypocrisy​

Legality doesn't matter. It's all about public opinion.

So it goes when the government is corrupt.

It's called a "slight of hand", since the poll is about why documents are still stored at Mar A Lago but someone who might be supportive of Trump doesn't want to deal with the question, try to turn the deck of cards around and make the question about YOU.
This is nothing new. THEY, Trump supporters that is, have already begun with whatabout Biden, whatabout Hunter, whatabout Hillary, whatabout the MSM, ad nauseam.
So while the poll is NOT about you, it is easier for some to make it about you than to address the question posed.

At least it shows people what the gop really thinks about the rule of law, it's for others not them.

As far as I'm concerned all it does is make them look extremely partisan and stupid. Anytime anyone or any institution did not do what trump wanted, they are corrupt, they are rinos, they are trump haters, they, they, they but not me, I'm as innocent as the new fallen snow.

Trump has tried to use that argument before. The problem is he did not declassify them before leaving office. Even if he had declassed them, they still belong to the American people. Either way, he's in violation of the federal records act and the National Archive had to take unprecedented action because Trump was given the opportunity to send them back and failed to do so.

They were in talks for months. Why should that have even happened? Those documents should have never left DC. I guess the time for talking was over.

Well, certainly that could hurt him, but you don't need to have the original to sell information, so that doesn't quite track for me.

I think Trump is hiding something he doesn't want to deal with, like me hiding my school worksheets under my mattress at 6yo.

Or maybe it's just a dig over the documents, and there's nothing more.

Either way it's a self-own from Trump.

The guy will go to jail or he won’t.

I really don’t care very much about him or what happens. Since Jan 2021, he’s out of office. Lock him up, don’t lock him up…no impact on my life. I don’t hang on the “goings on” of Trump and Co. Nor do I especially care one way or the other what happens. Again, no impact on my life.

He is a corrupt ego maniac. He’s always BEEN a corrupt ego maniac. He will always BE a corrupt ego maniac. Just like SO many other people in powerful positions.

I really don’t think he will serve a day in jail. Just like lots of other corrupt wealthy ego maniacs will never serve a day in jail.

And the world keeps spinning.

It is amusing watching so many people get all excited over this though. Makes me sort of think their lives are quite boring.

There are multiple reports in various news outlets that "sources" at the FBI say the search was about the documents. You can choose to believe them. Or not.
