Sounds like most violent crime. Should bank robbers and kidnappers be tried on charges of terrorism, since the penalties are stiffer?
Tell me what is the threats to coerce for "political purposes".
:2wave:
The definition you provided didn't say that it was a necessary requirement.
so your sticking with playing "obtuse".
I can't do nothing for ya man.
Try a precise definition next time.
uhm.... ok.... I can't reduce myself to this level of debate you are bringing.
Then those protesters aren't terrorists.
(Yes, the **** YOU was meant as a joke with the video, not legitimate)
They fit the definition to a T, much better than many we call "Terrorists" but you want to play this silly game. So Whatever keeps you turgid.
the jungle is a great book.I would like to see whaling banned as a practice, but I'm not a fan of these acts of sabotage directed at guys who are just doing their jobs. This falls into the category of acts like spiking trees and burning fur processing plants. In this case, I think far more would be accomplished by educational efforts to inform people about the cruelty of such practices.
For instance, the filmmakers who created the documentary, "The Cove," will have more effect than these idiots on the boats. The Cove Movie: Welcome
It reminds me of the reforms created by things like Upton Sinclair's book, The Jungle. The Jungle - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Jeez, man, the day I start needing jokes like that explained to me is the day I wear a whale outfit and get some Japanese guy to shove a harpoon in my back.
Just like bank robbers do.
You'll need a different definition, than the one you provided, to separate the two groups.
Haha, it was more for those that would be going "Holy **** a moderator just said "**** YOU" to someone"
I have no problem with whaling, just as I would have no problem eating an endangered species.
What political purpose? FAIL
–noun 1. the use of violence and threats to intimidate or coerce, esp. for political purposes.
Persistent, aren't you?
It says "esp. for political purposes", not "for political purposes". Note the difference.
Why do people make polls with such limited choices?
Charges could be laid over whaling clash
who do you believe is in the wrong
and what is your opinion on whaling
Prove that Japan isn't hunting them for scientific purposes.
no, they are trying to stop people from hunting whales under the guise of research. wrong tactics, though.I think the real question should be "is right to try to stop whalers through harassment or extreme tactics?" I think a lot of people would resort to extreme measures if there was a something that they totally feel that the government is totally incompetent in dealing with or simply refuses to deal with(I think whaling is legal in Japan,so they are not going to stop it). Me personally I think these protesters are bunch of loons trying to stop people from hunting, so basically the loons are whining over a cheeseburger and think that if the whalers felt threatened then they should defend themselves against those loons.
So if they were hunting whales just for food the protesters wouldn't be trying to stop them?no, they are trying to stop people from hunting whales under the guise of research. wrong tactics, though.
