Don't wanna work holidays? Don't work retail or service.

F'n wage-scrubs.

They'd rather watch other people work at the football game.

How dare people dislike something and then act to change a thing they dislike. That's messed up, man.

They can change jobs. Dislike it from the unemployment line.

WF should fire the lot of them.

I don't agree that it's strikeworthy, but they shouldn't be forced to work Thanksgiving.

I'm sure they have enough people to where everyone on payroll won't have to work. If they went down the seniority line to see who wanted to work and who didn't, that'd be fine. Some employees will want to work, since it won't be for all day, and they'll be making time and a half.

However, if you've been there 2 months and lots of other people want it off, tough crap for them.

Do you ever go to a movie on Thanksgiving or Christmas?

Then they can vote with their feet.

once on Christmas. however, i could have easily gone any other day, and would not have been the slightest bit pissed off if it was closed.

Not to mention they get time and a half working holidays. It's a shift a lot of folks in retail volunteer for, or used to when I worked retail.

Bravo to the strikers. Down with the man.

To be honest, when a business is open on Thanksgiving or another holiday I have a negative view of them. I feel for the workers that have to work the holiday and I wish that the store would close for 1 day. Now, it's another story if they get holiday pay and the work is voluntary as in "who wants increased pay to work X holiday" then I'm fine, but if they schedule and force people to work on holidays and keep them away from their families then I won't let them have my business.

I generally think strikes are stupid, but they do have a valid work-related concern.

Yeah, Whole Foods is the man. You should bone up on your friends and enemies to the cause list. :lamo
I will. I hope that this is the spark that starts a revolution. Chaos and riots in the streets.

Didn't say you would be, but it's no different from Whole Foods being open.

if somebody wants to work, i have no problem with that. forcing people to work on a family holiday is not cool, though. i can see it for essential stuff like police, firefighters, hospital, transportation, etc., but not for stuff that anyone can prepare for beforehand. nobody is going to die from whole foods being closed two days a year.

would i strike over it? no. but do i think that they could find a way to get enough people to come in without forcing them? sure.

anyway, happy Thanksgiving.

Half the people in America wouldn't be spending Thanksgiving with their families if the airlines and air traffic controllers went on strike! Pay people extra for working on Thanksgiving ---their eating schedules can be rearranged, and that would eliminate people calling in "sick."

Happy Thanksgiving, SMTA! :2wave:

Good luck with that. It's obvious you aren't aware it's the signature place for leftists and "organic" lovers to shop. Try to keep up with the times, the revolution was cancelled decades ago. You're now just another cog in the system.

Happy Turkey Day to you, my friend.

Stay warm!

Whole Foods Employees Strike Against Working on Thanksgiving

I just wish they would ask for identification from these so-called strikers/demonstrators. I'll bet at least half of them are union shills. Major unions cannot stand it that many food/retail stores aren't unionized. This is one salvo of many they'll continue firing until, they hope, they win.

This should be quite a dilemma for snobby liberals - do they support the working poor, after all, they claim to be the only ones on their side, or do they support entitlement to their overpriced lifestyle needs?

There's no question what liberals will support here. There is no such thing as a pro-business liberal. They'll say they are, but they're full of it.

You, too! It's snowing like crazy here at the moment!

No snow here after yesterday, but cold as the proverbial well digger's ass.

The colder it is, the longer the dog takes to find an acceptable potty spot - I think she does it for spite!

Good thing for her that I love her to pieces!
