who knows about Eckankar?

today I read this name for the first time

has anybody here come across this religion?
Interesting…..easy to believe there was some connection with Prince the singer…

IMO Eckankar like any other religion can be beneficial as a visitor but not as a member. Better to be “a poor wayfaring stranger” and “walk that lonesome valley by yourself”……connecting with God is an individual journey not a collective one. By becoming a member you automatically surrender your freedom and when you do that you become a hypocrite…..essentially serving two masters….God and the religion. There can be no religions in heaven because there is no longer separation from God……

Back in the early Seventies, which was also around the time I was introduced to Nichirin Shoshu, an offshoot of Buddhism, where chanting "nam yo ho reng ge kyo" and other verses was
believed to bring the same oneness of mind brought about by Eckists singing "HU".

I can achieve similar results using sound generator software to create sound from the proper portion of the spectrum to focus my mind.
Believe it or not, sometimes the sounds of a vacuum cleaner in a darkened room actually do it for me.
Don't ask why, I do not have the answer, I just know that sometimes it works very well.

What are others?
Oh so many. My mother was into that stuff. I was mostly exposed to Rajneesh type movements through later adherents like Deepak Chopra.
