I think Ben Carson was atrocious. I was positively dying when in response to a tangent question relating to the Iraq War he started talking about Kennedy, putting men on the moon, and something about the bully pulpit. It is very clear that he is a very kind person and very intelligent within his own field, but he clearly has no business running for President. For crying out loud it seemed like he was going to fall asleep half the time.

Close runner up: Scott Walker. Cratering nationally and in Iowa he seemed like one of the most, if not the most, boring and inarticulate candidate on stage.

Also does anyone else find Ted Cruz's voice incredibly irritating?

Edit: With only ten options for a poll I excluded Mike Huckabee. Because why not, right?

I would vote for CNN who seemed to have no interest in actually holding a debate and instead taking every opportunity to turn a GOP Presidential Debate into The Real Housewives of the GOP.

That played very well for three candidates, because nearly every question raised in that three hours somehow referenced one of the three of them (thus requiring the real candidates to respond to the neophyte's bland or ridiculous assertions) or was directly kicked to them.

So when it comes to who performed the worst under those circumstances, I would look to either Trump or Carson. Trump's routine was being beaten into the ground hard within the first hour, but it went on and on for two more hours after that. Does three hours of that man wear down on the least dumb of the already dumb Trump base? I think that's a fair question.

Carson, however, was pushed to the front because of his last performance. However, when he got on stage he was neither a captivating Mr. Rodgers character nor was he supplying anything by way of substance. A neurosurgeon, tasked with leading the a major medical department in the United States, curiously did not even weigh in on the health and politics of marijuana and medical marijuana. After the debate Carson was quietly saying that he was wishing he was called on to discuss an assortment of topics from the lack of space exploration to God knows what else. Well, Carson had an opportunity to cut in with the marijuana issue dominated by Paul and Cristie but did not take it. The post-debate numbers show that Carson had a dramatically high amount of time to speak given the caliber of the other 7 candidates (he was in the top 3 or 4 candidates in time spoken), but he didn't make the most of his time.

That's where Fiorina kicks in. She opened up with a respectable, if not apparently widely circulated rebuke of Trump's comments about her face, but then kept going. While the other candidates in the room were almost being forced to talk to Trump about the dumbest of subjects, she came in and gave details of what she wanted. These details were largely meaningless (including her rather strangely specific naval deployments) and in ordinary circumstances would have been pounced on, but she gave it her go.

Trump failed to answer any substantive questions, he just repeated his tired substance free "I'm a maverick businessman" schtick.

They all irritate me so badly; after how they treated us and the first Black President like a bunch of racists, fearful and weaklings. Then they're up there like, "Oh, we've got the answers; we need to replace Obama." No way can they ever prosper after what they've done and they just want to do more of the same.

Obama didn't smash Syria because they agreed to destroy their chemical weapons; our talking point; and also depriving any radicals getting hold of them. Would you strike a person who ceased resisting? Does anyone know if Asad carried through on his promise?

Trump would do ok just in case and Carson too has my ok.

Cruz once again just showed how crazy and obstructive he himself is.

But it was good for everyone else to see this as well.

Which begs the question, why in hells bells would the GOP agree to let CNN host a GOP debate?

Well you just need to remember that BHO is probably laughing at all of them, so don't worry about what they are saying about him.

If you are worried about SCOTUS appointments then you should consider voting GOP next time around.

If instead you are more worried about Social Security, Medicare, and ACA then you should consider voting DEM again.

I think Social Security, Medicare, and ACA will survive a GOP victory in 2016.

Therefore it is the SCOTUS that I worry about more.

It is always a choice from among the lesser of two weevils.

Always has been. Always will be.

Every time Ted Cruz spoke, I couldn't help but think of an artificial presidential campaign commercial.

On a substance basis, I agreed the most with Rand Paul. But that ****er was so silent that it pissed me off that he didn't try to get his word out there. There were times where he would keep his mouth shut for over half a goddamn hour. SPEAK MAN SPEAK.

When he was the only candidate to vouch for non intervention foreign policy, I was ****ing ecstatic.

Meanwhile, faggy little tomato faced Trump is talking about how he was going to get along with Putin because.... He will get along with Putin!

**** **** ass **** bitch

Huckleberry may be jesus-crazy but at least as a former governor he is qualified for the job.

Until he starts polling below 1% they probably need to keep him in the top 10.

It is unlikely that the JV debates need to be aired again however.

Only if you're a talibornagain bible-thumping evangelical who wishes to infringe upon the personal rights and freedoms of US citizens.

I think they did a great job of this.

The GOP looks all in disarray after what they've done and I hope this continues through the election.

I have only had the chance to watch the first hour of the main event so far. But my initial impression is Dr. Carson did worse. And it has nothing to do with the merits of what he was saying. He just doesn't come off...Presidential. The soft halted way in which he speaks does not exude confidence. And, for better or worse, in elections non-substantive details like that matter. Fiorino and Rubio came off impressive for actually being able to articulate what they would do and do so in a confident way.

Like I said, though, I haven't finished.

Walker was a non-factor in the debate. No one is talking about him. that meant he didn't do well

Agreed.

I do and his facial expression seems to be a perpetual smirk.
I just don't like the guy.
Apparently, most voters don't either.

Nobody noticed nor cared.
That is Huck's campaign in a nutshell.

Because even the GOP can't have Fox News and Fox Business host all the debates. I wouldn't put it past them to do it for the 2020 election cycle but not now.

Sorry, Huck-a-bee is unqualified. He is a conservative, who says he believes in the Constitution, but stood by the Clerk who would issue marriage licenses to gays, putting her beliefs before the constitution she swore to uphold.

Huck's positions, according to OnTheIssues, is that he'll
  • End Planned Parenthood funding by tying to debt limit vote. (Aug 2015)
  • Apply 5th and 14th amendments to unborn child. (Aug 2015)
He believes "US boots on the ground to fight ISIS ok, if others join too. (Mar 2015)"

He wants to "Shift federal social programs to church, family, & community. (Nov 2008)"

He wants to "Consider raising retirement age [of Social Security] for new workers. (May 2015)"

He wants to abolish the IRS and replace it with a flat tax.

I think Trump was last. His diatribe about discredited views on autism made Ben Carson look comparatively reasonable.

Trump definitely did not look good during the 2nd GOP debate.

I thought Huckleberry looked worse however, because CNN specifically attacked him about supporting Davis.

You are right about Huckleberry's positions however -- they are crazy. He is still trying to undo FDR's New Deal.

I think the Republican Party did the worst in the debate. It got dumped on repeatedly...by its its top shelf people.

I think the clear winner...was the Democratic Party.

But if asked what book...or what person on that stage...I would take if about to be stranded on a island for a length of time...

...(in keeping with the mariner's consideration of "any port in a storm")...

...I'd take Carly Fiorina.

Kasich, with Walker as a close second behind him.

Honestly first of all You can't just say people were annoying in a debate that's no part of why they were their honestly.
1. I thought Ted Cruz did really well with talking about the Iran nuke deal
2. Donald trump needs to be more serious with politics if he wants the voters to elect him president. I still think if he changes his concept he could be elected president.
3. Flourina did really well in the debate, but honestly she is not the kind of person this country needs she does not do well with foreign relations and border patrol.
4. Bush and Trump needs to stop acting like little ids and arguing with each other
